So is the shell website. now if I were cynical I would think that this was deliberately planned, but I cannot believe that any private sector company would behave like that. They all act in their “valued” customer’s interest at all times, don’t they?
Cheating sh*tbags. Where would folk stand if they take a photo of their meters as proof of the readings?
I know big companies are inherently evil, don't get me wrong, but aren't they just protecting themselves against customer fraud?
That depends on your view of the average person. Most are honest and just do not want to be ripped off by their suppliers. I just want an accurate reading on the day before prices go up by 54%.
I assume that if you've got a smart meter the companies will take their own reading at the point of the tariff change?
British Gas who I was automatically moved to when my supplier went bust. Can’t get on the linked website though, just a blank page. Must all be doing it
Just submitted mine with Octopus. Accessed it first time and all submitted without a problem. Every month you're also able to spin a lucky wheel that can give you a discount from £1 to £512. Never won yet, but its quite a nice touch. Sad to see some of the more established companies are resorting to such low hand tactics to squeeze even more money out of people, some of which will be desperate.
Bit confused now lol. I was switched to British Gas from peoples energy when they went bust. British Gas set up a new peoples tariff for all of the customers in my situation and said they have to keep us on it until june. Just phoned up to submit a reading and the Auto voice said prices are changing for everyone on a variable rate. Fixed rates will go up when they finish so am in right in thinking the mine won’t change unti june or can they still hike it up tomorrow?
Surely they have to calculate some of your usage at the " old" rate even if you don't get a reading in today?
I'm in a dispute with EDf after they took over from the now defunct (and utter ****) utility point. I wouldn't put anything past them.
If you have something in writing, they should honour their promise. Having said that, I'd capture as much evidence as you can now to assist you in case they decide to break that pledge.
Octopus have said they won't be changing their rates until midnight on Saturday night. Really poor from these operators to not be able to cope with the demand of a spike in traffic to their websites, when it has been known about well in advance.
Yes, but the drive for everyone today is so that the usual "estimated readings" are not disproportionately swayed in the favour of the higher charges...
