Would you mind naming them? Not including loans of course (although none of the loans have yet proved enough to be considered in Hammill’s class in my opinion).
Dropped on him in the Royal pre season. He was with his partner. I couldn't get away as he just wanted to chat. He must have felt he had the need to justify what went on when he was arrested over the paramedic. He was a genuine lovely bloke that just wanted to play football. Before I left he offered to get me tickets for a game. I thought he was just talk. He gave me his mobile and said text me how many you want for Preston away. I called his bluff and told him 4 for me and my 3 sons. True to his word there were there in the preston ticket office waiting. I would say up there with the legends as not only a great player but a lovely human being as flicker would say.
I think you could tell as he got older, he realised his love for football & us as a club. We loved him for him, and from there on out the loyalty was shown both ways as was appreciation. An amazing player, and I will always be grateful for the memories. Not many players in our recent history has that amount of screamers for us!
I think if you put his unquestionable ability to one side, for a second. What he actually had was an undoubted passion for playing football, and never more so than when playing for us. Back in 2016 we were owned, managed and captained by local folk, all of whom loved this club. But this talented scouser celebrated each goal, win, and even draw as passionately as us fans. It is up for debate as to whether we have seen that ability since. But the pride shown for pulling on the red shirt certainly has not and, sadly, possibly never will be again. Adam Hammill IS a red.
I dont think we will ever see again a player as committed and passioate about our club. Love Adam Hammill.
Absolutely loads of them. Our squad is so full of quality that we are flying up the league. Oh hang on
Checked my phone realised I still had his number. Gave him a call surprised he answered it. He remembered talking with me and spent over 20 minutes talking . Lovely bloke with time to spare sharing his love of Barnsley fc . He can't be at Oakwell today he's been playing for a non league club I forget the name who were 16 points adrift at the bottom of the league when he agreed to join them. They need to draw to stop up. Another great escape on the cards. Lovely genuine bloke who should be mentoring and coaching our youngsters. Told me he is on with his coaching badges. But just enjoying time with his family at the moment ❤
He was brilliant with my boys when they were mascots. My favourite player for us. In lots of ways that goal v Millwall was my greatest ever moment as a reds fan.
Could he do a job for us in League 1 next season like Akinfenwa did (and still does) for Wycombe? He's only 34 when all said and done.
