The food and drink kiosks inside Oakwell . Just shut it down @Lee Bfc and be done with it. It's just an absolute **** show like everything else at the club. I took my 8.5 year old to his first game since before the pandemic. I'm not one for food or drink inside Oakwell due to the ridiculous pricing and ***** quality. However, my lad wanted a burger or hot dog. Went down to a kiosk in the ESL around 8 minutes before half time - No hot dogs, no burgers, no sausage rolls but only the delicious pies!! Tried to talk my lad out of it but ended up paying £3.80 I think it was a meat and potato pie and he turned round 5 mins later and said it was disgusting. Why was nothing else on offer? Also what happened to service with a smile? The customer service was appalling. My lad plays for Holmfirth Town U8 Juniors on a Sunday. For every home game (we have 3 teams) the parents (as volunteers) run a tuck shop from our venue Holmfirth Cricket Club but also put on breakfasts, sandwiches, sometimes vegetarian options and even a range of drinks for home and away parents/supprters... Oh and you even get service with a smile. How can a "professional" football club in the second tier fail so miserably at this? The club is just rotten to the core on and off the pitch. No ambition and no desire to improve at anything.
Unfortunately whilst not necessarily agreeing singling one individual out I’m not surprised it’s been atrocious for years in house not in house no difference.
I have a picture of the queue at HT in the West Stand. Embarrassing. The stewards could easily make a case for crowding problems and get it shut down again. When the reality is it is poor management of club facilities that was the root cause.
It has been atrocious for years but why no desire to improve things? All people want is a few options of reasonably priced food and decent service.
The problem is that the outlets are franchised. When the franchise is up the club would be far better off not renewing and taking on the catering themselves.Get the pies from Joseph Turner at Jump.
It was a well run day today I thought if you don't include.... 1) Catering queues reaching the exit gates. 2) Our flag for Preedy and Patrick being covered until the second half. 3) No seating in the cold for the fan zone. 4) Having the sprinklers on when heavy rain was forecast. 5) Stewards not shifting on people blocking views/gangways. If you're going leave don't stand where you shouldn't. 6) Idiot fans who give the ref a reason to play more injury time by not being funny in not giving the opposition the ball. 7) Our announcer having to announce the alumini twice because they would be announced to applause, the applause would die down and then we could see them.
It's horrendous. In one booth in the east stand the water for tea and coffee is often broken by half time. The booths say "Pie Peas and Gravy" but they never have peas and gravy. No veggie option most of the time anyway so I can't get anything. Giant queues every time. The place looks knackered too.
Barnsley FC interviews for kiosk staff... BFC-is your IQ lower than the number of teeth in your gob? Dumbass-yes BFC - you're hired!
I think the water is broken even when it works because it's far too warm. Hot drinks have to be warm (obviously) but drinking a hot chocolate the water is that warm it takes ages to drink and you've got to be careful you don't burn your mouth. They should turn it down a notch.
And here is said picture; this is the short part of the queue, it looked even worse round the corner as it snaked it's way to the half open kiosk :-(
No idea why it took until the second half for one person to think to remove the plain grey cover it had over it.
