He said AS Nancy was their number one priority out of their group of clubs. Previously we were the jewel in the crown, which would indicate something has changed in their approach.

Inability to buy Oakwell has probably screwed up their plans. That, as well as the fact that their plans were awful to begin with...

And was willing to invest minimum 50m euros (if the article is true).

The £50m was linked to the purchase of Kaiserslautern I believe.

I don't know the individual circumstances at each of the clubs they've.... ahem.... invested in, but I'm pretty sure several (if not more) have the stadium owned by the local authority, so I'm not sure that's perhaps the driving factor.

My gut feel is their acquisitions are short to mid term (4-5 years) in the hope they can generate improvement that is attractive to someone else. Our zenith was the summer. Conways comments in the summer that they'd "f off if asked" were out of place given we'd just missed out on the playoff final narrowly and you could assume that's because they wanted to cash in at the highest point.

When you also factor in fan sentiment and likely to plummet season tickets, burgeoning debt, unsustainable business model, pending relegation, Brexit and the block on cheaper younger less experienced "talent", the court case, the £750k and then maybe the excuse they can't get title on the ground.... I can see why they may be amenable to getting out if they can get their money back.

That also frees them to "invest" further up the pyramid and buy a club on the fringes of the PL that may suit their vanity and ego's a little more.

The closest they've got to investing in a top team was OGC Nice and it was not an overt success no matter what they might report. They probably made enough money out of that to spread the risk across 8 smaller clubs, us included.

They made circa 80m euros of profit out of the deal. Largely because of the peril they'd put the club in. I'd love to know if these owners got all that money or if other parties and investors were involved. My instinct has always been they are funded by funds/others, at least in part.

Cheers for that DS, I did see that but took it as an April Fool.

Here's hoping something is happening and we can look forward to an interesting summer

We're going to play attacking football and refuse to just defend a lead for 85 minutes?

Hopefully a takeover and a genuine plan to move the club forward. And win back supporters who feel alienated from the club.

After losing at home last night AS Nancy are rock bottom of Ligue 2. They are 10 points adrift of safety with 7 games left.

Relegation to the third tier now looks inevitable for them and there's a bit more of a chasm even than going from the Championship to League 1 as the regulator in France can revoke a club's professional status below Ligue 2 if it so wishes. I suspect that it is imperative for Chien and co therefore to put some resources into AS Nancy to convince the regulator to let it retain its professional status.

It was in an article about that purchase but it said Lee was contacted about Nancy and he was clear and went on to say about investing etc.
+ only bought 10% of Kaiserslautern I thought.

I thought conway said that at the start of the takeover when he said if the fans ever wanted him and his cronies out they would leave?

I think/hope they are planning on a exit not sure if they will get there money back but what have they actually put in of there own? When they bought the club we had money in the bank from player sales, a better squad and were a championship side. Relegation and they will be able to demand even less for a league one side with dwindling season ticket sales.

I don't recall them saying that at the outset, but he certainly said it this summer.

To be fair to them, there was a decent chance we could be relegated when they acquired us (hence the negotiated agreement for a deferred element contingent on retaining our championship status or getting promoted immediately).

Their initial investment wasn't that much for a championship club with no debt at the time, and they've not paid £2.75m, so if the Crynes were involved, they could factor in a discount effectively. I do think there is potential scope they could profit, but we'll just have to see. I'm sure they'd spin it as they usually do.

Yeah i can't remeber him saying that in the summer but he definitely said it when getting 1st quizzed after acquiring the club.
And true although if the had got a decent head coach in after hecky who had wanted out for 12 months prior finally went we would have stayed up.

Yep. In the press conference at the end of august, I asked him a question about at what point they would sell their share and if we'd been promoted if that would have been the time and part of the answer said something along the lines of if the people in this room told us to "f off w@nker" then they'd be gone. Strangely, he didn't think w@nker was profanity. Maybe he'd been called it too many times himself? :D

The main thing I recall from the initial round of interviews post acquisition were the incessant quotes of not doing anything crazy and "long term investors".

His comments about leaving are in the section about "the future"

Hopefully there is a potential buyer, and they're a bit more clued up about how to run a club. I don't really care about having an owner tip money in. Just don't want them wasting / taking what little money we have.
