There's a significant difference. The board back in the 60s and 70s had no money of consequence but were committed to the club, battled day in day out in what was a pretty hopeless cause and, eventually, found a way to get the club moving forward.
The current lot clearly have no real empathy for the club and if the going gets tough financially will be off like a shot. We're simply some sort of cheap investment to them and there's no evidence I've seen that they give a toss about the club or the town.

Which fans did we slag off? Apart from the made-up ones? And I think we only called them out rather than slagged them off.

Where in my post did I ever say I was ok about it?
RedVesp, I was trying to get over the point that it was ever thus, and that I had (like thousands of others) supported the club through thick and thin (mostly skeletal, not even thin)
I get that with the current level of expectation etc that we should be staying in this division, but it's not going to happen.
I'm not in any way criticising fans who are peed off with the current situation, we all are.
I'm just trying to say that we'll be back, and that I don't care what division we are ever in, I'll be there cheering my team on. Don't get too downhearted, hard as it is at this time

We are all Reds after all, and that means a chuffing great deal to me, and I know it does to the vast majority of you.

My town, my team, my fellow Reds, whatever the circumstances

No, I think you're getting the wrong end of the stick.

I also don't really care what division we're in, but I do care about the absolutely criminal way our owners are ripping the soul out of the club.

I don't particularly care about the football at this point, I'm way beyond that.

Fair comment, but my point is that as fans we endure the owners, and support the team, hard as that is.
I can't defend the appalling ownership model, as you say

I would say more sad, we have had worse times, a lot worse times. I remember Mr Rimmington once saying they had to paint the balls white because B.F.C couldn't afford new ones. Just try & get behind B.F.C. the club.

Jeez, Fans on this BBS slagging off those on other boards. I was referring to the stick you and Loko had received not that you had returned it.

This plan B and good news we shall be hearing from the club soon what part of whats been upsetting fans is it relating to?

Great post, really like the “thick and thin “statement .....we have had crap times before.... end of the day it’s the life of a football fan, some moan more than others and some just carry on supporting through the bad times a guess

There is one unique element to the current situation, and that it that it's the only time I'm aware of in our history where the Board will not provide an undertaking (not that one should be required in the first place) that incoming funds from supporters will be used exclusively for the running of the football operations.

I've spent most of the season waiting for them to provide this one, very straightforward commitment and it hasn't happened. Additionally, the CEO has already publicly ruled out answering this at Monday's Q&A, during the ST renewal window.

It's possible that we might have reached a similar point previously if Peter Doyle had stayed in control for long enough, but this is the first time that we've ever crossed that point of an owner having taken funds out of the club for their benefit without declaring dividends (and although it's possible that dividends have been paid during the club's 135 year history, I would expect it to have been unlikely to have happened, certainly within 'modern times').

ST renewal decisions now include a tolerance decision as to whether you're prepared to accept the risk of the owners using the funds for their own benefit. Some fans are, some aren't, which is a personal choice, but the fact we even have to factor it into our thinking is unique to this ownership group.

But you suggested I gave that out when I didn’t give any out?

Sorry took it the wrong way :) My memory's rubbish but didn't think I'd slagged any of our fans off as such.

My brothers a Millers season ticket holder and he's saying the players are getting abuse from some of their fans as they hit a pretty big blip in their promotion push
I started watching the Reds in Div 4 in the early 70s and there were some very dire times then as well and 2 leagues lower though the difference was the people running the club were local and cared. We're just a plaything for this lot until they get fed up and ditch us which may be sooner than some people think
