I don't think he does"get" the fans but tbf he's not really been involved in English football, Man City is an outlier.
All hot air. 11,000 season tickets. The guy's deluded. Sack the lot of em'. Saturday was the lowest I've felt after a Barnsley result since the 4-1 defeat at Derby.
But he's been in Barnsley how long, Helen? Six months. He can't possibly be unaware of the sentiment among fans. Surely anyone worth their salt in his job would keep tabs on the online forums. How can he not know? I'll await a detailed report on what was said but the snippets that have come out so far suggest the guy is as clueless as his actions so far have suggested he is. I don't like singling people out but nothing he has said or done since he arrived has suggested he's got the foggiest idea about how to turn things around or even the realisation that things need turning around.
You must've had too much hope on Saturday then. I left the Reading game resigned to relegation, because we don't try to win games, we just hope to cling on.
Yes for sure. It got quite animated at times in that regard. I think the point was also made that unless the owners come out and address the fan's concerns he'll be lucky to hit 50% of his target.
I'd have hope even if we were playing Man Utd. I mentioned it the other week. It's a disappointment that lingers like a nagging ache being a Barnsley supporter. You'd think you'd become immune after time. It creeps up on you though. I thought I was mentally prepared. That said, I was mentally prepared before Middlesbrough in 2014 and Derby in 2018. I still had to be moved on by stewards in floods of tears after the players had left the pitch. (Laura p1ssing herself telling me it's only a game and there's always next season).
11k ST's for next season could be realistic, if: They drop early bird. They actually pricematch to last seasons prices They make squad improvements over the summer They appoint an experienced manager / head coach. There are signs of encouragement from the OWNERS, either that they are moving on, or have decided that Barnsley could be a project to work with after all. If the above happens, and we have made some decent signings and retained a few, then by the week before kick-off we could easily hit 11k STs But it ain't gonna happen, so I'll say an initial 6k, boosted to 7k late summer when folk have had enough of the sun and start to look forward to our winter game.
On that front. He is fully aware of what's going on in fans minds. Either told internally. Or via media and emails. One email he recieved was (in his words well written by hand. And relevant) Telling him he should resign on 7 points. I may be wrong on this one. But I think he invited that person to meet him to discuss. He certainly appears quite willing to talk to anyone with issues. (Even on a personal basis) The evening showed that after it finished.
Does he accept that relegation is an option yet then or what? Did flatbreads get mentioned at any point? Deluded and inept..... Quite worrying that this guy has got total reign over the football club. From incompetent owners right down to the management team, it seems like the perfect storm for a club to sink like a stone.
How do you sell summat you don't own. Without the owners permission. Unless you've nicked it lol. ( now that's a thought) I'm wondering how Chansiri will get round that one again.
He obviously knew what was being said on forums. But that doesn't mean he can empathise, when he said I don't know why after 40 years you wouldn't go to watch the whole room sat up and a show of hands went up. The emotional attachment is hard to explain, tbh it doesn't even make a lot of sense to me if I sit and dissect why on earth I'm obsessed with BFC!
The very fact he needs this explaining to him, tells me all I need to know about how woefully out of touch he is.
