Don't start gaslighting me Ben, you've made me ask my daughter how many season tickets did he say and she said 11000 too!
I asked you to speak to me in PM is you wanted to be civil. You haven't done so. Therefore again, I ask you to put me on ignore or not to message me. You have no capacity to be civil or to engage in simple dialogue without snide digs or personal attacks. I would expect an administrator of an internet forum to be able to accept such a request with little fuss. So please do so.
That's not the vibe I got, I took it that his realistic target was 11,000 and his aspirational one was to fill the ground.
You're on a one man crusade to turn this 11,000 'target' in to a stick to beat the CEO with. It isn't not being civil to call that out. It isn't a personal attack to suggest you've got some obsession with this number. You've heard from three people who were there and you're questioning the view that isn't the majority. Surely you'd expect that to be called out as agenda driven and not take it as a personal attack or a snide dig? There isn't a snide dig. It's just disagreeing with you and challenging your stand on this subject.
There's zero gaslighting here Helen so please don't try that. Nobody is disputing he said 11,000 at all. Another thread to set on fire in the history of the BBS.
Can you action my request, or can you change the format so I can block you? It's a simple request. Or carry on "doubling down" by all means.
Three people explained their interpretation of something. Two suggested one thing and you suggested another. The assumption was made that the two people must have misheard and will need to explain why they took it the way they did and described it so. All I suggested was maybe you misheard it instead. No gaslighting. No personal attack. No snipe or sly dig.
We’ve had two relegations, if you count this season, one season where only Wigan’s points deduction saved us, one promotion; and one season which the owners thought was a failure although most of us thought it was pretty OK. Curate’s egg?
It's hard to remember everything from 3 hours of people taking. I thought the 11k was referring back to something he mentioned in September.
Your interpretation of it and him saying that 11,000 was the club target for season ticket sales. Gally's post earlier is an excellent post on what was said and what it meant.
But when did that bit about the Garrison get talked about last night? I'm just going on what was said to the room at large last night. Admittedly I left before the end but he had said about the 11000 tickets as a target before then. And tbh, that's what I would be targeting in his shoes, a bit more than this season. But the fact we're having this conversation is annoying, because why weren't straight answers given, why the need for insinuation all the time?
I don't personally think the targets for season ticket sales are important at all. My bigger takeaway from these summaries is that his stance is basically, "Yes I know the fans are unhappy with the owners but why not just keep coming anyway" Now i don't blame him on that because given the owners will not speak to the fans he can do little else. But I fear its strategy that is destined to fail.
It's not been perfect and universally positive by any stretch. I think the first relegation was happening regardless of a change in ownership - even though we should have stayed up still. Just felt like a season where we'd come up short. We've still managed to deliver two of our best ever seasons under this ownership group, which shouldn't be completely discounted. But this has definitely been one of the worst overall in our history as well, driven by a catalogue of mistakes in the Summer.
