I thought it was a pretty straight answer. Coming away from the grounds of other clubs questioning yourself on why we can't sell as many season tickets and eventually get to an Oakwell that's packed to the rafters every week. He was giving a personal anecdote in a personable forum and meeting. This wasn't a press conference.
I'm really confused here. The CEO said his target was 11,000 but we can't criticise that ludicrous target because despite it being a target stated by the CEO it was the CEOs target not the club's target so it doesn't count? Give over. He states it as a target then he can be called out on it. Also it isnt a one man crusade as many others have mentioned it as well as DWLC.
I know this might be a stupid question but where exactly was this meeting available to be listened to? Loko seems like the only person who knew it was available somewhere
So to clarify. He doesn't understand why fans don't want to renew. He doesn't want to sack the manager. He doesn't think he should go either. He won't explain the west stand and why he lied about it numerous times before his final admission it was due to stewards. £750k is off limits. The owners won't talk to the fans. We're downsizing the academy. And his target is 11,000 season ticket holders after a 3 and a half week sales period before a huge levy on the poor. Where do I sign up for a season ticket?
i would have thought that the CEO was speaking on behalf of the club if not they might as well just ask random strangers.
Does his target matter one iota? The number of sales next year will be determined by the fans who choose to purchase a season ticket. Whether Khaled has a target of 1,000 or 16,000 his target will have no impact on actual sales.
Don't be silly, the club that he runs has a target that he sets as CEO and then there's the target that he, the CEO, sets and states at a meeting in his role of CEO. perfectly normal is that. They were going to ask a stranger who knows nothing about football and doesn't give a toss about Barnsley FC but apparently Paul Conway didn't answer his phone
In my opinion yes it does matter as it shows the level of realism the CEO has, how much he understands supporters and the feeling from them and basically his general competence. He sets the season ticket prices. How can someone who targets a completely unrealistic 11,000 be competent to set that price when he clearly has no grasp of reality regarding expected demand for tickets?
It was. He talked in the past tense. It was in response to a question from Joe from Red all Over about the owners making his job hard with regards to people walking away and that it breaks his heart and Joe said he wants to see the ground full. Khaled didn't mention the garrison specifically but was talking about a previous meeting in the past and how he was laughed at after suggesting there he wanted to break 11K season tickets next season and went on to say he doesn't see why we cant eventually sell out of season tickets if we make the right progress. He said "You set the bar high and you work". He talked about visits to other grounds and his thoughts in the car on the way back thinking why can't Barnsley achieve this. I've also got it recorded to make notes from and have listened back to it so I know that is 100% what he was saying, even if others did not pick up on that.
