Yeah it's a chicken and egg. In 2014 after the Leeds defeat that more or less relegated us. I made the decisions to buy a season ticket out of the blue because I thought it was time to get behind the club again. I did the same in 2018. This time it's different though. I can't get behind these owners and can't shake this sickening feeling that they won't try and get us back up at the first attempt. It's commendable looking to raise the profile of the club in the community and creating initiatives. However, it won't put bums on seats. The ironic thing is if the club was doing well and it's owners had more respect people would want to be club people of the year and do their bit too. They need to put their money where their mouth is first. This time it's after you for me.
You'll never have a comms strategy or recruitment plan that works for everyone. What one person thinks fondly of or likes, another person it doesn't make budge. There's multiple charm offensives the club need to go on this Summer and beyond to repair some of the damage caused from the last 12 months. I'm just happy they're looking to do something. I'd be more worried if it was the opposite. That would give me greater concern for the football club and the ability of those working behind the scenes.
And I've no worries about the creative freedom obviously being given to them by the CEO either. People leap to suggest it's because fans are fed up with the club, but maybe, just maybe, these are ideas people have wanted to look at for years but haven't been given the go ahead/support to make it happen?
Not if the shirts haven't gone up £10 anyway but they wouldn't need initiative if they had have brought decent players and coaches in and took the club up or even into play offs, the season tickets would have sold themselves
Sorry for late reply. No, but I think in view of this seasons disastrous results and the apathy I believe it has created among fans, it seems to me that they are clutching at straws. I understand the attraction of playing at Oakwell and would love to be able to, but making it a condition of renewing does seem a bit cynical to me.
All this activity around season tickets , whilst good to see, is just an attempt at damage limitation.
Despite all the stick you've had on here you continue to post and bring a touch of optimism amongst all the doom and gloom. Similarly despite all the stick Khaled gets on here you always offer a sound logical "other" argument re what he is trying to achieve. Good on you Loko. I'm out of the habit of frequently looking at the BBS for many reasons but your tenacity in pushing an alternative view is refreshing. It will take a monumental shift to change the attitudes of the lost supporters.....some who might never come back. However its always good to see something other than the cynicism which pervades this place. To see that there are some who can see some sense in what Khaled is trying to achieve. He's inherited a poisoned chalice but it looks to me as tho he's trying to instill some belief back into the heart of the club through the people who are the heart of the club and whose hearts are in the club. Good luck to them and him.
