That’s the problem. It’s always been understood that if you lie in parliament and are found out you resign, but our excuse for a PM has found out that there is no one to enforce it. Also all standards committees report to the PM and he can do what he likes with the findings. Our lack of a constitution falls apart when you get a crook in the PM’s position.
As for the fiction that you can’t change PM when there is a war on. That’s bullshi* are we seriously saying we want a proven liar with no moral principles in charge at a time of international crisis.

make Wallace acting PM. He actually seems competent and not part of the Johnson Truss Dorres Clique

Is that the job of the speaker, but wait a minute Lyndsey Oil the speaker only kicks out MP's that call out the lier and leaves the lier laughing with his mates.

Sadly no. The speaker doesn't have the power to kick him out for lying. Either the commons need to call a vote of no confidence, which won't have the majority, or his own party have to force him out.

The nolan principles, the ministerial code and ethics (of which Johnson is ultimate arbiter of both) mean you can have a criminal as PM in the commons and do nothing until their party deem them surplus to requirements or eventually an election has opportunity to rid them.

I reckon they should call it anyway. It might be daft tactically as it will fail but that’s not the point as morally I don’t see how they can say they still have confidence in him. It also allows it to be pinned on the entire Tory party for enabling them and not let them pretend that a new PM is a fresh start like they have the last few times.

Edit: I wouldn’t be against MPs protesting outside Parliament either and inviting the public to join in. This is a completely unprecedented attack on our democracy and our entire political system and they need to do something big to call it out otherwise it’s going to become the norm from now on.

How long till someone says "everyone broke the rules", "he's had a hard job though with brexit, covid and Russia", "why shouldn't they have drinks together? They're already in a work bubble" or some other right wing nazi sympathiser excuse?

    3) That bloke is a particularly slimy bloke. He gives me the creeps. If he's the best they can dredge up to stand up for him, I reckon he could be toast in a year or so. Plus don't underestimate Bojo's capacity to do something else ridiculous in the meantime

I've got to the point where I have to stop reading what is happening with them as it just winds me up so much. I can't believe we have a PM who has broken the law and gets to keep his job. It is incredible.

I am really starting to think that the racist one's supposed covid hospitalisation was one of the greatest hoaxes of all time. Nobody who was in intensive care from covid would so openly flout covid regulations

Don't start with the conspiracy theories! I think some folk believe they're indestructible and could well think that wouldn't happen to them again.

As Red Helen has said......Try to stick to the point of the thread i.e. the general , probably overwhelming consensus, that Johnson and Sunak should 'go' a.s.a.p. (albeit in my minority opinion now is not the time as change of ....ahem....'leadership' for the next few weeks given a lack of any viable replacement is not really practical given the current Ukraine situation where 'continuity' is essential).

I might be a bit thick but why does it matter if we change PM during a war between two other countries? It’s not like Ukraine or Russia is on our doorstep, we’re not in the EU, France is currently having a General Election, there’s often conflict going on somewhere around the world, it’s like the saying of ‘if I waited for all my ducks to be in a row I’d never cross the road’ or ‘if I waited for perfection I’d never write a word’ etc.

Second point I don’t understand. They keep saying now’s not the time as there’s no one to take over. Out of 359 MPs there’s no one who is suitable? Surely there’s never been a time like this where a party in power apparently only has one person who could lead, and that person is a bumbling incompetent criminal? What are we waiting for then, one of them to have a brain transplant? What are they going to do at the GE, put forward a brand new person who’s not even an MP yet to be PM? I don’t understand their long term strategy of telling us everyone is ****.

This cant change during a war is complete garbage we did it in both world wars for example
True there arent many suitable candidates but there are only a handful less suitable than Johnson - most of who are in the cabinet as he has surrounded himself with less than competent sycophants - unfortunately most of the Tory's with ability and conscience were purged for refusing to unquestionably back the oven ready deal before being given a chance to check it but there must be some who are more honourable that the current incumbent
