Decent listen in the 1st part.. quite funny but quickly brushes over his time at Barnsley and doesn’t really delve into it. Only says he got into an altercation after a game with a young fan who hurled abuse at him for wanting to engineer a move out of the club. Us and Chesterfield pretty much put him on the map, especially after his performance on sky against Birmingham. Must’ve not enjoyed his time with us and wasn’t the first or last during the last 10 year. Not many in that Keith hill era had glowing reports of the club in the aftermath. Thinking back, I think a lot of Keith’s signings were all for him and probably sided with Keith when the fans turned against him.
I think it finished when he had a great season at Chessy before he came here. So they may be a bit more about his time here in part 2 But the lad had 16clubs so I don't think he can talk about one for long. I was interested if he mentioned what Vas Te was like.. Have you seen the Keith Treacy one?.. wow.. that lad did have problems..
Yeah. Danny Wilson played him at Chesterfield as punishment for turning up pIssed then sacked him. Proper old school management.
He came off the bench and scored that day in a 2-1 defeat but the scoreline flattered us think half the team were pissed not just treacy.
Listened to it today. Quite interesting if you can put up with the multiple "y'know what I mean" and "blah blah blah". Second part has a bit more Barnsley content, particularly at his jealousy of Vaz Te getting a move away. He always seems to be trying to engineer a move, a cut-price Kieffer Moore.
I wouldn't say he was jealous of Vaz Te, more motivated by the fact that Ricardo had got a move to a big club off the back of 13 goals, and he was only just behind him with 10. Can't blame him for wanting to play as high as he could. I thought he came across as quite honest and genuine.
He did, but also had the self-destructive element of Treacy. Fights in strip clubs, one day (!) excursions to Ibiza. Not sure you can play at a high level without the necessary commitment.
Is Craig Davies the one who had the worst first touch ever seen at Oakwell? Or is that someone else? I'm remembering a striker around that time who's attempts at trapping a ball went further than Josh Benson kicks it
Probably. Some weeks he'd look like Lionel Messi, other times Lionel Blair. We've had much, much worse.
If I'm thinking of the right player then it was just his first touch which was appalling. Was good once he's got the ball but getting it in the first place was a bit hit and miss. Mainly miss.
Enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. Although a bit disappointing that in part two they seem to go from talking about Chesterfield, straight to Bolton with almost no mention of his time here. Listened to the Keith Treacy one last week. It's probably already common knowledge, but he was basically always p*ssed during his time with us. To the point where his driver would even get him out of bed to take him into the ground.
His strapline on twitter in his time with us, was: "I don't care what you think of me, cos I don't think about you at all". I never liked that. Always grated with me a bit. Good player on his day, but his day wasn't regularly enough.
Probably. He does elude to his touch being poor on the podcast to be fair to him. He thinks it got a lot better at Bolton after he'd worked with Dougie Freedman
But none of that would bother me if he was still doing the business on a weekend. 1 in 3 his goal record for us, which is a decent return.
He walked out.. we had to pay him from New year till end of the season. Then he was finished, And then we'd still to pay him another twenty grand after that.. And in his own words.. thats how f,cuked football is.
