He’s back from injury, he’s the Club captain, a goal scorer ( when played correctly) of course he’s going to be back in the reckoning. I Think the comments made if he wasn’t selected would go along the lines of, ‘we’re wrapping him in cotton wool for his impending sale’
He is no more or less saleable than he was last week. Of all the things to criticise the owners and there are many. There is no need to invent things or are you seriously suggesting we shouldn’t play one of our best players upon recovery from injury
Hes gone downhill as a player, plus a thought he looked slightly overweight and slower yesterday, he would need to really sharpen up to get the price we want, if he's on a high wage nobody's going to match it the way he is at the moment.
Of course we should play our club captain who strengthens the team. If Fulham have as rumoured a big sell on clause there will be no point selling him if we only end up with something silly like 500k out of it. We might as well let him leave for nothing at the end of next season after hopefully scoring 20+ league goals to get us back up.
Of course he needs to sharpen up, he hasn’t played for goodness knows how long. You only get match fitness by playing ..erm matches. He might be on high wages at Barnsley, but for most Championship clubs, that would probably equate to probably their average.
Hes been poor for a year you can't deny that, we all know from injury it takes time and maybe league 1 would suit him to get him firing again, I dont understand how much protection he gets from fans, a change of position might help him but to me he's got really slow a not a threat as he used to be.
There all saleable assets thats the model only trouble with these owners is when we sell we replace with players who arent very good at all.
He’s one of our better players, club captain and has scored more goals for us than probably any other player will for many years now. But nah let’s just rip into our players on their first game back for months.
I hope he plays on Monday, as he needs game time since coming back from injury. He looked off the pace yesterday in his brief appearance, as did Callum Styles for that matter.
His form suffered because of the position he played week in, week out. I don’t understand the level of criticism and even abuse he’s had on Social media. He was often accused of not caring and being idle which wasn’t the case. All he needs is a run in the team that provides decent service. Apparently He’d been playing for a while with an injury that was eventually to result in a lengthy absence which would explain his drop in performances and pace etc. I agree, L1 should see him firing on all cylinders again, providing the team are good enough and can give him the service. We’ll just have to wait and see what next season brings
Is that for definite, I’ve heard that figure banded about but can’t remember seeing anything verifying that?
Cauley hasn't had a good spell in the last year or so but he'd be invaluable next season. He's one I can see us keeping as long as he wants to stay on that is.
