Interesting that you've decided that all of the season ticket money goes into one pot and TV money etc goes into a different pot. The reality is that it all goes into the club accounts and a hell of a lot of season ticket holders money went to pay their debts
It’s interesting that you are obsessed with thinking all the season ticket money went to paying the Crynes .
If I pay a mortgage payment to Barnsley football club and more than that amount of money is used by the owners to settle their debts (after explicitly stating they wouldn't take money from the club) then I think I have a right to be pissed off about it
You can have a different view but the fact, according to Khaled, is that £3.5m will be paid from the club to meet the purchase cost. Broadly 14,000 season ticket sales or 6 months championship TV money. If as you and @Gally state, this was agreed to come from the club then the club’s accounts have been incorrect for the last three years. It would also make you question why the payment was made as a loan to BFC investments. Someone somewhere is telling very big fibs.
You are probably right but Bury ceased to exist quite recently Barnsley aren’t a fashionable club like Derby or Reading so the club disappearing really could happen. No doubt a phoenix club would arise like Bury or Acrington etc but it’s a long long way back Of course you may well think that’s a price worth paying if it removes the current owners and you are perfectly entitled to refuse to give them any cash. I just don’t think it’s correct to say the club can’t go under
The last club to go under and not resurrect is New Brighton 1951. Bury are reformed and have just got their ground back after the parasitic owner left the club insolvent. Reading have never been fashionable they are the kipper tie of the football league.
And rightly so. We've got 30 points from 41 games. The players, owners and management should all be ashamed of themselves.
Good job your not a Man Utd fan then because the Glaziers haven’t used a penny of their own money to pay for the club , it’s an unpalatable part of football finances that this happens at most clubs
Some of the vitriol and bile in this thread is absolutely nauseating. Suggesting we are bad people for wanting to go watch our football team. Also, another point. Let’s say we do go under and start again at the very bottom. I would imagine a sizeable bunch of the supporters wouldn’t go anyway because they ‘see the Championship as our rightful place.’ So the club wouldn’t progress.
It is literally one person who posted two messages in a thread containing 70 posts. He's the only person to have criticised any other fan for watching Barnsley and you had already replied to him.
If he's achieved that without the loan signings maybe it would point to his methods starting to work, but his negativity is still so apparent.
It's more likely to go under with the current owners in charge imo. They couldn't care less about the club, we've served our purpose as an English championship club to get investors to invest in other European clubs. We're part of a pyramid scheme. AS Nancy are putting together a proper campaign against the way they're run and it appears to be bearing fruit.
I don't think there's many people suggesting anyone is a bad person. I would imagine everyone has their own individual trigger point at which they decide the club, under the control of the current owners, is being harmed beyond tolerance and is not the thing they grew up supporting. At that point they stop going. I'm not saying we're at that point at the moment but there may come a time, if the present lot don't start to show some real care for the club, when the short term pain of a large scale withdrawal of support is better than the long term pain of watching it run into the ground. The spirit of Barnsley Football Club belongs to the people of the town even though the bricks and mortar may belong to a transient third party. As long as Barnsley people want a football club to represent them there will be one and they do have a say in what guise that club takes.
Yup. I find it extremely sad to see personal & unnecessarily aggressive language being shown towards fellow fans, simply for holding a different viewpoint on how best to support the club.
And that's why they're hated by there fans. To the point where some went on to say..no more.. and formed FC United..
