My word have you ever seen a player regress as much as he has this season. He should hang his head in shame.
Both Calums have gone backwards this season but so have others. Picking one out of this sh it show of a season is a little unfair.
Correct. They should both hang their heads in shame. Spent half the season sulking. Brittain wins it for me though. Awful.
I agree. Yes he wasn't great but he easily had 2 or 3 good balls in that we didn't take advantage of.
He looks completely devoid of confidence. He has the ball in acres of space, and dithers on it until the only option he has is a backwards pass to the keeper. He's steadily got worse as the season has gone on, but today I actually felt sorry for him. He just doesn't look like he has any belief in himself.
He was absolutely horrific today. If anybody disagrees, watch the game back and just focus on him. I don't like slating playings but jesus wept, he's truly woeful. His positional sense is naught & constant pointless lazy long balls is just a waste. One of the worst ever performances I've seen from him
And he will always try take 2/3 players on in silly areas, or give silly fouls away. So frustrated with him because he looked a steal last season.
I sit in the west stand. First home game could see him wanting to get further forward and kept stopping to ask Schopp if he could do so. I think his head went down and has stayed down. We can forget these are only young lads, confidence can be a fragile thing. Blame the owners appointing two clueless but cheap managers
Simply down to poor management. Val had a clear role for both as wing backs and gave them confidence to do the job. Poya has had Britain at wing back, right back and unbelievably on the right of a back three in second half. Styles has played on the right of three attackers. Worst manager we’ve had for ages.
Brittain was just as crap last season. Nobody noticed because of results. His level hasn't gone down. It's just people see now what they should have seen last season. Every "key" involvement or chance he has had to influence a game in a positive way ends in dithering failure.
Disagree SD, apart from Collins and maybe Morris its been a downward slide on performances this season..
He put a fantastic ball into the box yesterday, and last season he did the same creating 2 simple goals for Dike at Wycombe and home to Boro. He does have some quality. But his energy levels are way down on last season and we're now asking him to play as a right back (with some fluidity) rather than a wing back which I don't think helps either. Don't get me wrong, he's had an extremely poor season and he really shouldn't be bellyaching publicly given his own efforts.
He epitomises how half hearted and powder puff this season has been. He is a microcosm for the whole squad.
Callum Brittain is 24 years old, and in his 4th or 5th season as a first team player. While he’s no veteran, he’s not exactly a kid fresh from the academy. He’s one of a few players that could reasonably been expected to step up into a more senior player role and simply hasn’t done it. Instead spends a lot of his time looking for others to blame. As for Callum Styles, the idea of him playing centre mid should’ve been put to bed after the Blackpool game.
is it a coincidence we went on a decent run whilst he was injured and upon his return things started to slide again? Dont want to pin the whole thing on him but even the game v boro we literally fell apart as soon as he came on and almost blew it.
I think it’s harsh to pin it all on him. Things have got progressively worse as we’ve lost Williams, Helik and Collins. Can’t afford to lose players like that with such a threadbare squad.
