I went to the 25th anniversary doo for our Premiership promotion last night. I chatted to Paul Wilkinson and John Hendrie for a bit. They were 33 and 32 respectively when they signed. What followed is permanently impregnated in our history.
Bassi was absolutely awful on Monday too. Heart didn't seem in it. Quina is a one trick pony. Poor man's Chris shuker but with all the temperament of a toddler.
When we sign players with potential do they have potential as footballers or just like general potential? Kitching looks like he might have potential as a plasterer, Palmer could maybe be a hairdresser and Callum Brittain, dunno, traffic warden? Litter picker? Sleeping policeman?
Bassi having an absolute shocker without the ball. And not much better with it. Not just basing this on the game tonight, but we assembled such a poor squad over the Summer that any form of decent enough recruitment in January was going to give us a boost. I’m hardly convinced Bassi is a regular starter for any other Championship team. Good enough to be in the squad fighting for a place, but his name is on the team sheet for us before a ball has been kicked in every game. That’s the level we’re at this season. Thanks Paul.
He was told he'd make a better footballer than a boxer when he was younger. I wish he'd been told to take up tiddly winks!
You're right of course but in January we desperately needed to significantly strengthen and we brought in two players. One of which you've just said shouldn't be a championship starter. That's Khaled's fault isnt it?
