Sentiment was completely right. Doing it through multiple fake Facebook and Twitter accounts wasn’t the way to do it. What also didn’t help was banning people who respectfully wanted more info, calling out people in a closed group so those people had no fair right to reply, and pitching fans against fans like it was two sides. Now relegation has been confirmed, it still doesn’t help calling volunteers at the FanZone snakes, the open and free to attend forums a waste of time (given they don’t attend themselves and ask anything, and didn’t when the CEO was five yards away), and now say ‘you’ve got to hope there’s a buyer out there’ when their whole premise was built around a consortium stepping in as an alternative ownership model. The owners definitely need holding to account. But as I said loads of times you’ve got to bring supporters on the journey with you, and that doesn’t happen without using facts and soft language that unites people. Hopefully lessons have been learnt and any action going forward is far more impactful and less controversial because of it.
Loko may I suggest you take a step back and stop trying to get offended by everything anyone apart from yourself writes. We aren't all out to get you, we are asking for information. Information that Gally admits the supporters trust has but that you appear hell bent on contradicting him about and denying. Gally quite clearly states that something is happening behind the scenes that the supporters trust is party to. Whenever asked about it you get offended and have a go at your fellow supporters for daring to ask. It really isn't a good look for either yourself or the trust which is a shame.
I think what Gally meant was we are working on things behind the scenes and doing what we think is right and what we’re able to. Not some golden nugget of hope or info. You’ve literally called me out in a post and questioned why I have the approach to Paul Conway that I do. That’s the same thing I typed a lengthy, respectful and detailed response to only like three or four days ago? It’s not me thinking you’re out to get me. It’s me being like ‘Why are you starting a new thread asking me again?’. The answer is exactly the same. There’s no sudden defence of Khaled, as I haven’t been critical once. And there’s no sudden negative critique of Paul Conway’s role and performance because that’s been consistent for close to a year.
It isn't calling you out the loko it is simply asking you, as trust board member, what the information is that the trust has but won't share with the supporters. Gally seems to be saying that something specific is happening, you are doing your best to point out that this isn't the case, and unless I'm reading what you're saying incorrectly, that it's nothing specific and it's just generally that the trust are doing trust things and trying to improve things. There is a big difference in the way you are both wording things which is very confusing to me but perhaps im the only one seeing it this way? Why did I start a new thread asking you? Because we have just been relegated and the deadline for parting with a mortgage payment is in a few days. It wasn't a post having a go at you or calling you out it was begging for you to share the information that it seemed from gallys posts that the trust has. Begging for the positivity to be shared before I make the decision whether to save a payment for the mortgage that puts a roof over my head or to give it to the club. I know you say there's no sudden defence of Khaled but it does appear there has been a change in how he is spoken about by yourself recently. It seemed you went into that interview all guns blazing, you challenged him hard on things etc but recently there seems to have been a lot of talking him up as a really good CEO. On the outside that change in stance has been remarkable (and something that people at the last home match who read the BBS but don't know my identity on here) were talking about. Similarly whilst you may have always been critical of Paul Conway I'd say that's always been respectfully and quite professionally so from both yourself and Gally. Recently however you have both VERY openly been saying Conway out, all roads lead back to Conway and basically going for the jugular. I agree wholeheartedly with that but it is a stance that you've both avoided in the past. Finally it's the fact that the three thinks have all happened at the same time, a defence of Khaled, open and heavy attacks on Conway and Gally saying that something is happening which will be revealed in due course that leads fans, or at least me, to believe something is happening. I am desperate for some good news regarding the club and for family reasons feel I need to renew but for moral reasons really don't want to so I made a post asking what information there is, what can be said to reassure me before I make that decision. It wasn't laying into you, calling you out or criticising you. It was begging that you or Gally or anyone else at the trust shares what I believe has been hinted at and gives supporters some hope or tells me that there is nothing likely to change and helps me make my decision not to renew.
Again, it is calling me out. You tagged me and suggested for the second time in a number of days that there was a sudden change of approach or view when there hasn’t been. How many times can I repeat that other than the West Stand closure comms, I don’t think I’ve ever been critical of Khaled? Naturally the criticism of Paul Conway gets greater the poorer our season gets. That’s all that’s happened here. But again, how many times can I repeat that I’ve been constantly critical and asked all the same questions around funds, recruitment, etc. since Khaled’s first open and free to attend Q&A? You can try and link the three. But there’s no link. Again, something I gave you a really fair and lengthy response already. So at the point that you ask the same question do I just assume you think I’m lying? There’s been zero positivity from me for Paul Conway, probably ever. The criticism star the moment all the decisions from the Summer came continually back to haunt us. You’ll be able to search the BBS for me being critical of us going without a CEO from before Khaled was even appointed. That is our single biggest mistake of this season and I put the blame solely at the feet of Paul Conway. Of course my feelings towards that decision gets stronger the more and more relegation became a reality. I’m a Barnsley supporter. I hurt when we lose. I hurt when fans are treated badly. I hurt when we get relegated. Trying to continuously spin it as something else and tagging me in threads is bound to get a reaction on the day we’ve been relegated. Hopefully you’ll get that given how much of my time I give up for this football club for zero benefit but lots of criticism
Is something going off behind the scenes that the trust, and therefore you, knows about that you believe will make a significant positive change to the ownership of bfc or isn't it? Simple question
Not to my knowledge. That’s why I’ve not said anything in any post on the BBS. I’ve just spoken as the passionate supporter that I am, pointing out again and again that this Summer is why the club is where it is. All roads.
It might be what you were asking Gally. But be honest with yourself and see how the OP was suggesting a change in tact or approach from me that that I happily answered directly just the other day.
Maybe. But he name checked two of us so I was responding to my part. I’ve got no idea what Gally was trying to reference or not. Only he can answer that.
Had plenty but I’m not rose tinted so if I criticise on either platform it’s warranted and there is nothing to defend but you somehow jump on every negative opinion by defending the club. I will expect balanced opinion but it’s OTT
Tbf, for all the things you can criticise Loko for, blindly defending the club isn't one. He's hammered Conway for months now. Granted, he's offered a more positive stance on Khaled (which he's entitled to do so even if many don't agree), but it's unfair to say he leaps to the defence of the club at every turn.
Your opinion is purely 100% negative though so isn’t balanced? You comment on every Facebook post going with something negative. Sometimes funny though so will give you that. I’ve given more than my fair share of criticism to the club. I just don’t agree with every single criticism that gets pulled out. Which is the more balanced opinion there?
Chose the wrong season to have it. Might have got a contract at Oakwell if I’d kept it this year and chatted up Uncle Paul.
