It might be because it's late and I'm raging with the fire of a thousand suns, but I'm not sure I'm understanding what you're saying here.
Barnsley Football Club is still an attractive place to play your football or be in the dugout as part of the coaching team. It’s not this untouchable car crash of a club that nobody would want to touch with a barge poll.
it's those people that are letting the club down. I said the other day about someone. 3 examples. I have more. You sat near me when Kaleed was allowed to say things that weren't true. That's a small example of the things I talk about. I actually agree with a lot of what you say but I give examples all the time. But you are friends with people at the club. Andy for example and others and you won't complain about them.
oh, ok I thought that's what you meant and in that case I think you're very, very wrong. The only players and coaches that will be attracted to us next season are not the sort of players and coaches we need. The club is a miserable place to work, you can see it in the players eyes, the way the coaches react on the touchline and in the media teams latest match reports. It sounds awful and if I worked there I'd be engineering a way out ASAP.
my view.. strubers covid year no fans..no pressure on young squad, play? with no fear..no moaning from crowd when trying to play our from back ( mads, sibbick especially got dogs abuse for this pre restrictions) ismaels covid year, no fans unbelievably successfull..not entertaining according to a fair few on here but winning games this season ( no one in ground to moan about style) fans back in...moan like fook at trying to play a bit ( gerrit forard) start losing. managers toss, players are toss, owners are toss etc You'll never please everyone all of the time x
Aren’t the media team just being honest about our performances on the pitch? Rather than suggesting they don’t want to be there. Given the internal promotion, the extra bodies being brought in, the intern getting a full time position, the numerous marketing initiatives, etc. I think that team probably, although we’ll never know, feels positive off the field right now? We have tremendous facilities, a great history, an academy, a superb fan base if you can unite them and connect with them, plus we won’t be going down to League One wanting to settle for mid-table. It’s an exciting opportunity at a great club, in a great town, to go and make a real name for yourself. We’ll be inundated with applicants as always. The key is going to be figuring out if the right man/team has applied, or if we have to proactively go and get them like we did with Stendel and Struber. I hope it’s the latter.
The owners wouldn't have it any other way, I think they like ruining clubs from top to bottom. what's to join at oakwell, any player, coach's, fans are demoralised in a season.
Hemsy - you’re claiming the media team are what’s wrong with the club. Have a think about what’s gone on this season and if you’re apologies for Paul Conway are valid, given you’re trying to throw the office staff under the bus.
Hate to carry our little debate across threads but how on earth do you reach the conclusion that the club is an attractive place to ply a management career. Come to Barnsley: we've no money, the squad is terribly unbalanced and your best players will be sold in the coming weeks. Replacements? No that will be the odd free or loan we can scrounge up. The backroom staff is one of the smallest in even the third tier. Half the ownership is suing the other half and the owner threatens to move grounds if he doenst get his way. The ground we are in is falling around us, in fact we had to close a stand on safety grounds 12 months ago. Now the thing to remember is you've been hired to play a possession style to improve players' values- sadly none of them can pass a ball! Best of luck old chap.
The lot of them are rubbish. the academy. People are talking about 750K and rightfully so. They aren't talking about the money they have wasted on the academy in the last 6 years(750k *6 and maybe more). I'd prefer it to go to the owners than waste on people that aren't good enough. 6 years of these compared to the 6 years ago before they took over. Marsh and Wolfe vs between 15/20 million income when Holgate gets sold.
We don't have tremendous facilities. Maybe 20 years ago, but decades of neglect have put paid to that. Our facilities are a joke. The media team are obviously being leant on, the last few match reports have been scathing whereas tonight's is wishy washy garbage. If the media team haven't been coerced into being less brutal then they've given up. Either way it doesn't paint a picture as an attractive place to work. The fan base is only as superb as the club dictates, about 5,000 home supporters in the stands tonight is testament to that. And of course we'll be inundated with applicants for the head coach job, but they'll all be nut jobs in the same vein as Morais. Great.
I don't know the players have shown plenty of consistency this season and it's not done the club much good has it.
Disagree entirely. Don’t think the media team needed to ‘go after’ the performance tonight given it’s essentially kids and reserves and the stand in U23 coach. The respect card can be played at the right time. Our training facilities are great. You’ve also quoted tonight’s crowd but ignored where I said if you connected with them/us.
Given we’ll be giving someone a step up, or their first break to greater things, why isn’t it a good club to come and work for? How many other clubs at our 22/23 ‘level’ have it that much better? You’re thinking like a supporter and not a football manager. Which I tried to caveat in an earlier post. We’re FAR too close to the details to look at it objectively.
It appears we are at an impasse. I think many would argue it's just you that's too close to the club to look at it objectively.
Maybe. But I’m not really that close to the club at all and you could point at a hundred poisoned chalices or managers that go to a club and everyone on here says ‘why have they gone there’. So I’m confident I’m looking at it from a football perspective.
Of course you would. But you’ve got form for wanting to pitch supporters against each other for some bizarre reason and seemingly further a divide.
I’m really not. I think there’s an assumption the relationship is a lot closer than it is if I’m honest, just because I try and remain positive. If I was universally negative like some posters nobody would suggest this. Doesn’t seem fair does it? As for the impasse, I’m only saying we’re a decent sized club for League One, have great and loyal supporters if you can build a rapport with them, have great training facilities, an academy, and a budget next year that will be Top 6-8 overall. None of those opinions are based on how close to the club I am, or aren’t, and are genuinely what out of work coaches, or those looking to step up/make a break in England, would be attracted by. The supporter noise probably comes way down to the priority list because any decent coach will back themselves to remove that noise through performances on the pitch.
