You keep saying this. We’ll still have a transfer budget. You talk like millions fly around at League One level but there’s hardly a penny being spent. It’s all loans, free transfers, and then maybe some of the ‘bigger clubs’ throwing the cheque book around for a couple of hundred thousand. The club have already said they’re working to a list of targets. It’s not like we won’t be able to bring anyone in?
Well, let's revisit this in August. I'll gladly hold my hands up if we sign/employ anyone of any decent calibre. And as for honest discussion, on my part this is an honest discussion.
Only out of sentiment for the club from his playing days. He fancied one last short term challenge that’s all.
£8m to find to keep our heads above water. Once our best players have left and we have only 5k season tickets sold I don’t envisage us being very attractive to players even at L1 level. I’d say our budget will be bottom half.
I disagree. That’s all. We’ll still have a decent wage bill to play with that will see us top eight budget wise. We only sold 7,000 season tickets last time out I’m League One. Given everything that’s gone on getting over 6,000 will probably be seen as success - especially with all the other external factors.
I agree it’s common for teams to follow the Head Coach, but it’s not like they’d known or worked with him for long(8months ish). I’d totally understand that if they had come with him. I also agree the ‘exodus’ (slightly exaggerating on my part) doesn’t prove it’s horrible and I’m not saying it is, I’m saying usually it points to it. That may or may not be the case I don’t know as I don’t work there but from outside looking in when so many key people leave from the top(Dane) down leaves you have to ask why.
But that's essentially what you're doing, you're trying to convince us that your rosy outlook regarding the club is the truth, when the vast majority of us, looking from outside the club, can clearly see that the club is rotten. Regardless of what you say, you do have an vested interest in convincing the rest of us that things aren't that bad. For all your protests, you are not outside the club. You depend on a friendly arrangement to get access to the CEO and I see brew dog is front and centre at the fan zone. This is me engaging in honest discussion.
Too much doom and gloom. I think the players that have let us down the most are the players that people are hankering on us getting the most money for. They won't be missed. Time to start focussing on what we have got right now and will have in the summer. In defence we'll have Walton in goal. Then we'll have Williams fit. Then there's Moon, Kitching, Helliwell and Sraha. It's obvious this area will need strengthening. However, that's not beyond the realms of possibility. The way I see it Schmidt, Thomas, Ackroyd and Aitchison will improve the squad. As will Kane. We'll go from having no midfield to perhaps a surplus in that area. Also Iseka and Thomas play out wide. We'll have more options than this season. We have ICD and Wolfe in the middle. Up front we have Cole, Iseka, Schmidt and perhaps Aitchison.
Yeah it’s all pretty clear that the relationship is just too cosy. Defending them to the hilt after the season we have had.
Actually a member of my family is good friends with Sedgy & the reason he left is poor working conditions.
No I get what you've been saying about Conway (it's impossible not to!) - I must have misread your post because it says you thought recruitment was OK this summer.
I think this is you engaging in honest discussion but having a serious dig at me at the same time. Serious allegations there. Do you want to jump on a call and discuss it properly?
No mate. What I meant was, I think, is that the club hasn’t been run badly every year of the 4/5 they’ve been in charge. Separate to recruitment.
I wasn’t suggesting it was anything else. I didn’t make a comment for you to disagree with or correct me on?
On the attractive place to play things, I think I get Loko's point if you view at it from the business side of playing. It's a decent shop window for players to make that step to the next level. Mawson, Hourihane, Winnall, Bradshaw, Yiadom, Davies, Lindsay, Pinnock etc all came to play for us, probably knowing that they'd stay a few years then get that big move. The trouble is, we don't sign players of that ilk any more.
