Is it ok with me ? its nothing to do with me what you want , it is not rocket science to work out that the crowd stated is the number of tickets sold for this fixture the same has it has been all season, it only varies because of the volume of away support , is that o,k for you ?
So you can comment & criticise all you like but someone who raises a different view is out of order , I think I have got it , cheers
I imagine that the club will know which s/t holders are not turning up, if they're recording this through the turnstiles. It must be very disheartening to see how many have abandoned the club. Understandable but sad.
Not true , tickets sold is totally different to how many attended , people may have a season ticket and not attend.ita not rocket science
Wait until they see Oakwell on Saturday. I hope Preston sell out their 3,100 allocation. If that happens they might be as many of them as our own in the ground.
We have legal obligations to count tickets sold and that will always be the attendance figures released. Separately they will also record the actual amount of people in the ground. Peterborough have just done an exercise that shows on average 25% of their season ticket holders miss each game.
Just a quick and very rough count based on the pictures I took on the phone and I reckon there were about 1600 in the East Stand and something like 1100 in the Ponty End. Add in the West Stand and I'm struggling to see how this gets much over 3,500 in home areas. Last time I can remember a similar league crowd was for a sterile end of season game again Wimbledon on a rock hard pitch many, many years ago.
If I can find enough stills from any press coverage, I'll count 'em if you like. Shouldn't take long!
This is my understanding too. The figure announced as the actual attendance is always inflated (at every Club). It just looks worse this season at Oakwell and has become a source of ridicule because the 'gap' between the Attendance quoted and those actually in attendance is so ridiculous. During 2023 we must have had between 25 and 40% of ST holders that simply didn't bother (last night's was obviously much higher than that). For obvious statutory/duty of care/policing reasons, the Club have to know how many people are actually in the Ground; they could carry out their obligations otherwise. IMO it would be far more honest to give this latter figure. This is not a criticism of BFC - is applies to all Clubs. I suppose it's a sign that the importance of marketing is more important than honesty/accuracy. Incidentally I do wonder whether next season, if performances on the pitch are better, we will have the unusual situation where more people are paying on the gate/in advance that the total number of actual ST holders which I would guess will be around the 4,000 mark.
You actually have just agreed with what I said, they announce the attendance as the number of tickets sold, whilst it is clear that is not the real number of people actually attended in person , hardly rocket science
Are you for real ...people on here clearly say they wasn't x amount at the ground so clearly that's not the attendance of the game
Are you for real, please read carefully what I have put, I am saying that the attendance the club declare are the number of tickets sold not the real figure of how many actually attended , I will repeat you are saying the same thing
Why do people who have a strong opinion of what they believe a number should be insist on wilfully ignoring the description of a statistic. The figure quoted by the club is always accurately described. They’ve never announced there’s x number in attendance, and always counted tix sold. Just because you might wish they’d give a different count, doesn’t make the number given incorrect. could we even get an agreement of what ‘attendance’ actually means? Do we include: Football staff of both clubs Non playing / coaching staff Directors Club guests, player guests, officials guests FA officials Catering staff Press Stewards Police some of those there by choice, others not, but they’re all in attendance and most didn’t go through a turnstile. there’s seats near us that were occupied for only 3 games this season (they could tbf have been to one I didn’t attend), my question is ‘who TF is paying £100 a game to watch that shower of sh ite’?
Attendance to me someone is actually going to watch the game , not staff nor people who've payed for a ticket and not bothered turning up
