If there were around 1500-2000 Preston fans that would point to an "official" attendance of around 13000. Which would suggest that 3090 is just a typo.
Yeah I wasn’t very clear but meant in and around the town in general rather than specifically at the ground.
They will already know the message. They can easily check which people who purchased a seasonal membership haven't gone to which games and find out how many years they have been. Then when they see people who have been pass holders for decades haven't been for months I would like to think it will worry them.
There were 8 police vans parked outside the station at the end of the match & we had to walk through 3 police lines to get past them.
Nonsense. I’ve heard official attendance v Blackpool was just over 6k. Definitely a few more today at both sides of ground so I’d imagine around 7k. 3k is a ridiculous exaggeration….
I always look at the crowds around the country but you just can’t trust what is published these days. Maybe we never could, really?
There must have been a terrorist incident in town judging by the police presence. as they used to say on “Early Doors”, “Crime won’t crack itself.”
You know the attendance is very, very low when you can easily read BARNSLEY FC in the East Stand seats.
Is it actually league rules to lie? I've never seen it written down but often see it repeated on here
There were loads of police, I think there's a chance you just couldn't see them from the west stand. Were a load in the corner near the ambulance, was a van full of them parked behind the east stand, saw some walking in the east stand concourse, some outside the fanzone and saw quite a few in town as I made my way to the match. Definitely a lot more than I've seen for quite a long time
According to the club it was sheer coincidence and fluke that about 4000 fans turned up in red and/or white clothes yesterday and just happened to sit in the seats where it says BARNSLEY F C in the East Stand lower and therefore it appeared that they were empty seats but in fact it was brimming full from end to end. The crowd itself spelled BARNSLEY F C. Now what's the chances of that happening !
You could well be right ST , say it has I saw it & I hardly saw any police in the ground or on route both to the ground & back to the car via the bottom car park & Oakwell lane but given there were supposed to be 4000 away fans expected I am not surprised that there were plenty of police in & about the area, I personally do not have an issue with it being that ,if something had kicked off the first question would have been " Where are the police " ? In reality the claims that they were bringing 4000 were well exaggerated & from where I was sat there only looked to be around 1500 but I suppose it is better to be safe than sorry & it is SYP who decide the numbers so no problem .
My issue is that these claims of 4,000 fans aren't what the club and SYP expected, they can't have as they netted off far too many seats for that to be possible.
