What an unbelievable event and moment in history.

Incredible atmosphere with 15,000 people at the Garden. I’ve scored it 5-5* but what an amazing fight - how Katie Taylor stayed in it after that fifth round I’ve no idea. A win either way can’t be argued with.

Hopefully they get all the credit they deserve. All that pressure to perform and they delivered.

*I typed this before the result. Split decision win for Katie Taylor!!!!!

Taylor won for me. 97-93. I do think the rounds are harder to score in women’s boxing. Lots more thrown in a shorter space of time.

Cracking scrap. Smith - Vargas was a belter as well.

Watched the last 3 rounds on HesGoal. Don't know who the woman was on the foreign language commentary but all she could say for a full five minutes after the final bell was "No, no, no nooo, no no, nobody, no..." ad infinitum so I'm guessing she just might be Puerto Rican. And as for Logan Paul, just who does he think he is? Stood next to Eddie Hearne like chalk and cheese!

Kudos to both women though, to get up there and perform like that in the Mecca of world boxing, I'd play 'em both in our midfield next season!

I think I had it a draw but think that fifth round was a 10-8 (one judge scored it that was but the others didn’t).

I’d love them to do the rematch in Ireland with three minute rounds. Although with three minute rounds Katie Taylor doesn’t make it out of that fifth round.

One of the greatest recoveries I’ve ever seen. And yes, the Liam Smith fight was a cracker. He looked strong!

    Valdez/Stevenson up next if I can last…..

I’m no fan of his, although I think he owns some of these boxers by how intelligent/witty he can be, but he seriously helped deliver this event.

He’s been doing a really solid job for women’s boxing. Not doing much for the men’s game though with his ridiculous fights.

Fair play. Not sure if he's riding on Eddie's coat tails or being used by EH for his marketing ability in the USA but it seems to work and everybody's happy (apart from Frank Warren :D:D)

He’s had Serrano fighting as the main event support on his own fights and signed her to his MVP promotional company a while ago.

He’s put the hours in promoting this fight and using his ridiculous following to help sell it. He was the co-promoter for this show.

I had Taylor winning the fight, on my card she had the first 3 then Serrano took the middle rounds, but Taylor comfortably won the championship rounds in my opinion. Serrano should’ve probably took Taylor out in round 6, I think it was. But just goes to show how well she prepared for this fight to stay on her feet and then go win every round from there. Incredible.

The final round too was something else, how they had the energy to trade like that was breathtaking(literally).

I’m ashamed to say, when Taylor first came onto the scene I wasn’t sold on women’s boxing, I didn’t feel comfortable watching it back then. How wrong was I, what she has done for the sport deserves the highest form of sporting recognition about. Incredible woman. I’m not fully sold on woman's boxing. Won’t be long before those championship fights go from 10 rounds to 12.

Regardless of sex, that is one of the most evenly fought fights I’ve ever seen. And right up there with one of the best. Fair play to both of them and can’t wait to see the rematch.

Can’t watch Taylor fights because even if she gets battered for 10 rounds she’ll get the decision. The first Persoon fight was a disgrace.

So imagine my shock when I woke to find she’d got yet another split decision! And against someone way past their best and going up in weight. Don’t get me wrong, the night her and Nicola Adams won their gold medals in 2012 was incredible in terms of atmosphere and performance but since then I feel it’s perception over reality, with her being very carefully managed.

Looking at the comments I might be cutting off my nose to spite my face in this instance but had to get it off my chest :D:D:D

How Taylor got out of that 5th round I'll never know, Serrano was landing bomb after bomb

Fair play to both women because that was epic and rematch in Ireland has probably already been agreed

Good for a womens fight. Hopefully the reach the stage where like men they fight 12 rounds of three minutes instead of ten rounds of two minutes. The best way to be seen as equals is to fight to the same rules as males do. They will make even more cash if they get a rematch at Croke Park. I like Taylor but she just doesn't have the power to knock people out.

If that was Serrano past her best, then my god. To be honest that was the 1st time I had seen her fight, but no way was she past her best

Used to like boxing don't know if its my age but I went right off it, they make a big thing of dementia in football from players heading the ball but apparently its OK for folk to thump each other in the head!
Also I know its their choice but it certainly doesn't seem right to me cheering on 2 women knocking seven bells out of each other.

There’s nothing wrong with not been sold on women’s boxing. Some of its terrible. There was an undercard fight unifying all 4 super middleweight titles & the standard was very poor.

Natasha Jonas recently moved up 3 weight classes to knock out a terrible Uruguayan.

Shannon Courtenay & Ebanie Bridges have both been world champions.

It’s got a long way to go until it’s anywhere near the same standard of men’s boxing but for now it’s just a case of cutting through the crap & enjoying quality fights with quality women boxers like last nights main event. Hopefully more & more will come through as it’s still a bit of a minority sport.

I had rounds 1-4 as two rounds a piece. Then Serrano with a 10-8 in the fifth round and winning the sixth. After that though Taylor won every round down the straight.

That’s Taylor winning by one point I think? But given it wasn’t definitely a 10-8 round, and the fourth round could have gone either way, it was good to see the scorecards call it accurately.

I also couldn’t watch women’s boxing up until about 12 months ago. Didn’t feel comfortable at all. I still don’t really, given the Savannah Marshall KO the other week made me wince where the equivalent in the men’s game doesn’t do that at all.

See above. She deserved this decision and it wasn’t controversial. I think she lost the Persoon fight as well, but only by one round with plenty of swing rounds in there. Not the daylight robbery people say it was, just a poor decision overall.

Seranno was moving up in weight but she’d four at this weight class four times before so wasn’t new to her.

Taylor won it on her last 3/4 rounds . Serrano lost it by sitting back after she hurt Katie in the 5th .
The fight was non stop and a great spectacle . Womens boxing is a great watch . If there’s a rematch in Ireland I will be going

It was. Katie Taylor had to put a head guard on as a teenager and pretend to be a boy just to be able to train.

I also read yesterday that professional boxing is banned in Ireland full stop in terms of paid events. Linked to crowd trouble in the past and it’s association to gangs. They’d need to overcome the female issue and the pro boxing issue to bring the fight to Ireland - would be a mega event for all those reasons if it happened.
