Loss leaders last year, now relegated and pretty much worthless.
Losing approx 6-7 million with the drop.
I think the 80%ers have done the club proud, they have certainly succeeded in alienating the fans from the club. The spat with the Crynes and the council has seen to that.

Doris is priceless. She makes a grand cup o' tea.
Re the players. Their value will have dropped like a stone. Not something I think the owners envisaged. And should be a massive wake up call alongside relegation if nothing else.

I would imagine that any reasonable bid will be considered. The club needs some new blood to mount any sort of challenge in league one next season. With all the financial estimates heading South the management will need some kind of war chest to dangle in front of any prospective Head Coach.

Pure speculation on my part but I can see the following happening:

Morris sold for approx £1m (out of contract summer 2023).
Woodrow sold for approx £1m (out of contract summer 2023).
Collins sold for approx £750k (contract ends 2023 bur there is an option for a 1 year extension in the club's favour.
Helik sold for approx £1.25m (out of contract 2023).
Styles sold for approx £500k (contract ends 2023 but there is an option for a 1 year extension in the club's favour).
Andersen sold for approx £1m (contract ends 2023 but there is an option for a 1 year extension in the club's favour).
Britian sold for approx £500k (contract ends 2023 but there is an option for a 1 year extension in the club's favour).
Odour - 1 year left but we will be lucky to get anything for him!

Adeboyejo to be released, Halme (contract ending this summer but there is a 1 year option in the club's favour) but also expect him to be released.

Then we have Cole under contract until 2024, Kitchen, Benson, Iseka and Oulare until 2025!!

In summary I'd say we're in the **** big time!! The transfer fees I've speculated on above (totalling £6m) may or may not cover the loss of income due to relegation but we have no money in the bank and the investors aren't going to put a single penny of their own money in. We will probably be looking at the youngsters and free transfers!

If I were the manager of a Championship team...

I'd like Morris in the squad, but considering his injury record, I wouldn't want to sign him for anything over 750k.

If I needed a goalkeeper Collins would interest me, particularly if I wanted my keeper to sweep up behind the defence. But I wouldn't want to pay a lot of money. You can usually pick up goalkeepers for free (when did we last pay for one?) so, unless I was desperate, I wouldn't be offering much money and blowing my transfer budget. Collins is good but there will be other good keepers out of contract and available for nothing.

I wouldn't be interested in any other Barnsley player, not even on free transfers. They're not Championship standard players.

Me and my party of season tickets holders have just had a bid accepted from Hickleton Golf Club. We have to fill our Saturdays from now on I suppose.

I expect we'll shift a few to lower Championship teams (Hull, Preston) but fees are going to be low. I think Helik is "worth" £3mn+ but we'll be lucky to get half that, ditto for Morris.

I also think the incoming players might not be as bad as we think but possibly with huge sell-on fees (as per Woodrows alleged 50% clause)

If I was a Championship manager there is only Collins I would possibly be interested in signing and that's if my own keeper wasn't good enough. The rest I see a big reduction in ability compared to the previous season. Woodrow and Morris are good but have had long term injuries so I don't know if I would trust it. Helik this season has been involved in less clean sheets, got booked more and scored far less goals. The rest like Brittain and Styles if nobody wanted them after last season I don't see why they would after the performances they have put in this year. Styles has arguably had the greatest reduction of our entire squad in relationship to peformances.

I’m tipping that there will be some speculative derisory bids for the likes of Morris Woodrow Helik and Collins and the board will panic accept the first offer on the table just so they can claw some money back

Woodrow is a luxury that we can't afford so I can see him leaving relatively cheaply, as for Helik, Morris and Styles I'd hope that we can get a decent amount for them without letting their transfers drag on too long.
We also need to have a clear out of the expensive fringe players that are not trusted to play.

I can see Collins, Helik, Styles and then one of Morris or Woodrow going. Probably Morris as he’d have more interest I would’ve thought.

Not sure I’d be offering a contract to any of those that end this season.

Callum Styles for me is the one player I'd be interested in if I was a fan of a championship club. Whatever the vagaries of form the guy is class and is young. Honestly could see him going to somewhere like WBA.

You’re taking significant wages out of the budget there as well don’t forget, plus whatever relegation clauses get factored in for those players staying. Woodrow leaving is worth £500k don’t forget regardless of transfer fee, and if someone has agreed to help us out on the Oulare deal we’re already saving on that with it being an 18 month loan. Gomes, Bassi and Quina have gone back too.

It’s by far not a positive situation and pretty bleak. But it isn’t just the transfer fees that dictate the saving in money.

I don’t know why anyone in the Championship would sign Callum Brittain after his performances this season. There’s no case to make with him but there is with the others.

We'll let her go for an undisclosed but retain an interest in her gypsy creams.
