I replied to the post of Exiled, who had not attempted to counter his argument. He had not addressed any of the points he had made, or the validity of those posts. He had taken the short cut of labeling him a troll, an abusive remark that enabled him to avoid addressing the issued raised and the points made. It is lazy.
can’t fault your argument about the benefits tbh, For a start there’s been….errr, no oh wait a minute there was err, no it’ll come oh yes it was nooooo Oh that’s it it must’ve been when we got RELEGATED without a fkin whimper!
You've said it now and are in danger of appearing a bully. So stick with arguing with the points that he makes and lay off the personal stuff.
What are you disagreeing with? I thought your analysis showed the club was in a precarious financial position? The alternative model is one where the club pays salaries of 70% of turnover. That is sustainable. The team may not be successful but the current approach has been unsuccessful both on and off the pitch. This may mean a smaller squad, lower transfer fees and the reliance on coaching. Being innovative in reward by offering a large slice of any transfer profit may be a way of attracting players. Just a thought. Very easy to criticise much harder to be constructive.
“The football club is at a crossroads and the best way to plot a sound future is to think about things coldly and calmly, and without any pre-existing conclusions about what went wrong and who was at fault. With respect, that really does not matter. “ I agree in your sentiment regarding plotting a sound future, however to say not to look at what went wrong and whose fault it was would be negligent. I know you are an accountant and place the utmost importance in that part of a business- but businesses take much more than an effective finance dept to be successful. Analysis of past performance, why things went wrong and plans to improve are vital and you need more than a financial input/cash flow for this. In this instance when there is a common denominator at several clubs that are all failing I would say looking at that really does matter.
I hope you aren't involved in running a business?? That would surely be one of the main areas to focus on?
Well I’ve watched/listened to that on my morning walk and it was actually spot on but a few people are bed wetting over the anger and a few swear words ffs. If ever a point in our history anger was needed it’s now. I actually felt quite sad leaving Oakwell on Saturday knowing I may never set foot in it again
Give over. Nobody is bed wetting, they're just fairly pointing out that that kind of approach to delivering a point is quite alienating. I'll eff and jeff with the best of them in private company. Used correctly it can add a level of seriousness to a point and support certain emotions. Calling everyone lovely person*s over and over again, attacking your own supporters, and effing 500 times in an hour, just turns many people off the point you're trying to make. We all know that. Deliver the same message in a calmer way, with less inaccuracies and contradictions, and you'd bring FAR more people on the journey with you. That's what is needed here rather than us vs. them.
If this guy is the same and everyone knows he is and has a lifetime ban why has admin not banned him? Genuine question, not really aimed at you to be fair.
People more concerned about abit of passion and swearing than the club been run into the ground been totally neglected all season and potentially losing 6k season ticket holders next season. Says it all really.
I watched the first 20 minutes and agreed with a lot of what Luke said. As an opinion piece it's fine but it comes across badly in other ways, primarily the swearing and the "I don't give a f**k about anyone else's opinion" attitude. If he doesn't care about anyone else's opinion there's a lot of people he's not going to get onside. If resistance to the owners is going to coalesce into a single, unified body I'm all for it having some of the fire in the belly displayed by Luke but it has to be articulated in a much more professional manner
I've no idea. It's quite clear it's him, admin knows it's him and they did indeed give him a life ban previously but he's not the only person that admin know are using the bbs despite a ban, I think it's gegenpresser who outright told them he was, so God knows. I don't care, bans can be rescinded and minds changed but yeah I've no idea
I am certainly not in disagreement that the club is in a financial mess. That is obvious. However, I am in disagreement with most about the cause. Almost every club in the Championship lost money last season, and most lost a heck of a lot more than we did. Every club makes mistakes with the players it chooses to acquire, and most of their mistakes are far more costly than ours have been. If you look at Balance Sheets, as I have, you will find that clubs are financed mainly by owner loans and parachute payments, without which many would have gone to the wall, long ago. The Championship has been changed by the existence of the Premier League. It is not the same place as it was even 25 years ago. It is a far more difficult place to compete in financially, and that is especially true when you do not have a sound financial cushion. To Barnsley, a loss of £4m is far more damaging than a loss of £35m was to Bristol City or Reading, or a loss of £24m was at Middlesbrough or losses of £15m were at Preston and Nottingham Forest, not to mention the loss of £94m at Fulham. Which set of owners managed their clubs the worst, the ones who lost £4m or the ones who lost far more than that. The difference is that our smaller loss affected us more, simply because we did not have the cash cushion, or rich owners willing to sustain that loss. But can we compete in the Championship if we are promoted back there, assuming we do not spend the huge amounts of money that other owners spend, after all Luton seem to be thriving under the competition. Or is it just that Luton have had more luck, and when that luck turns, then so will their league performance. After all, we finished 5th last season when all the luck was flowing our way. I believe you are right. I believe that we need to limit wages to 70% of turnover, but I believe that we should continue to have a balance of younger players, who generally want lower wages and who are prepared to swap lower wages for a shot in the first team and a potential move on to bigger and better things in the longer term. Whether that is a popular view with the majority is entirely dependent upon results, and honestly, I do not think results are going to be great in the short term. Of course, if we find owners willing to throw £100m at it, money they will happily write off, then things are different. However, I do not think that there are people with that much money who are interested in our club, so the present owners, and their plans are the only ones around.
