Having heard about the travails of the other clubs in the stable of the new owners, is it about time that we had a statement of intent for the future? I know we’ll all pick out the bits that we doing believe, but at least we’re have a rough idea about what is in their mind. This post isn’t the usual criticism of the owners, but one that says OK what’s next. What went well, what mistakes were made? What have we learned? What are we going to do about it? Season tickets are the product, they want to sell a lot of them, so why not tell us what the product looks like. What are the benefits? How will they be delivered? What can we look forward to? Silence breeds apathy. OK guys, when are you going to market? Or is there something to hide?
I applaud your optimism, and that of the BFCST for that matter. But in all honesty, haven't we seen enough of how these guys operate - both at Barnsley and in terms of their other clubs? Why would they change? They struck rich at Nice, and will feel under no pressure to do anything differently at Oakwell. Their manner of doing things is what we are stuck with until they decide to offload. For my part I find it uninspiring, and I won't support it with my money. But enough will do to enable it to continue as it is for the foreseeable future. That's other people's choice, and I entirely respect it.
....."Football is full of ups and downs that's what is so great about it we will regroup and go again etc " in reality we bought ourselves out of the 1st division using the crynes money we wont be able to do that now. will it be impossible to come back up and or maintain championship status not impossible but obviously it will be very difficult and maybe it will be that once in a blue moon scenario when everything drops for us we over achieve other teams under achieve our best chance in the immediate future i guess is probably that nobody wants our players and we have the same-ish team for next year and can push to come straight back up and get the T.V money back.
If that is the outcome then either £8m has come in to the club from the owners or the club is in administration
The 8 million or most of it is i presume based on upcoming costs based on players wages etc ?. so there will be loan players going back . out of contract players leaving signed contracts with relegation wage decreases in them. then do we get into the realms of trying to renegotiate with players on current contracts to take a further pay cut or allow them to leave for nothing if nobody wants to buy them to get the wages off the books what is the current wage number overall for all our players do we know or will all of this make no significant difference and we need a large cash injection from somewhere
The £8m assumes the wage bill next year falls by £6m that’s how much a hole the club are in. A year out of date the wage bill was £14.1m. Last time in league one the wage bill was £10m and operational losses were close to £5m. Pretty sobering knowing how big a mess the club is in financially.
But is a statement worth anything from this lot.. if conway told me it was raining outside id have to go and look for myself to make sure.
Spectemur Agendo keeps springing to mind with these guys. Easy to say things, much harder to put them in to practice.
