Just thought it would be nice to ask...

Seriously is there anyone who posts on here or even who reads but has never yet posted who are really struggling at the moment?

We have our squabbles on here whenever things like politics are discussed, but we are all human and should look out for one another.

So anyone who is struggling, maybe needs help or anything, I'd always try and help and feel free to drop me a PM or just ask for help here where I'm sure solutions can be found to make life easier.

Don't stay silent, it is really often true that the old saying of a problem shared is a problem halved.

I'd urge people not to respond with silly humorous comments as it can put people off who maybe could reach out for help..

    Take care everyone.

    Firstly thank you for asking,
yes I'm struggling at the minute, we lost our dog Morgan at the weekend to congenital kidney disease he was only just turned 2 a couple of months back and it's broke me, he was more than just the family pet, we'd got Mog's 2 weeks before I was diagnosed with cancer and at that time we didn't know what life held at the same time COVID hit and the first lockdown started so it was all a very traumatic time and we did discuss if taking on a pet was the best thing to do but thankfully we decided to keep Morg's and it was the best decision I'd ever made, he was to become my saviour, post surgery left my partially disabled and I've always struggled with social anxiety anyway but having Morg's by my side help me push myself to get out and walk little by little I recovered more and more mobility from walking Morg's every day I know without him I'd have been a prisoner in my own house, COVID passed and the cancer surgery has been a success so far (fingers crossed) but then because I wasn't as able bodied as before I was made redundant it was just hammer blow after hammer blow but the one shinning light was Morg's he just gave so much love and loyalty I know without him I wouldn't be where I am today then 5 weeks ago he became sick, we didn't know why so had him to vets to be told he was in final stage kidney failure it broke my heart but we got 4 more weeks together until I finally had to say goodbye Saturday. I've barely left the house since and daily functions are hard I know I need to get back out and walk the places we did again but at the minute I can't and I can't see a light at the end of the tunnel either, like I say life was hard before Morg's but it seems 10 X harder now

    God bless you Morgan

That's so sad, 2 years is no time. RIP Morgs.

Morgan sounds like a wonderful dog! I’m so glad you had those wonderful times together and that he was able to help you through dark times. In terms of you no longer walking, it’ll sound daft but when my husband and I are driving and the passenger one of us sees a particularly pretty sight, but the driver can’t look because they’re driving, we’ll say ‘can you get the sight for me?’ or ‘got the sight for you’. Maybe you could continue your walks and ‘get the sights’ for him? As a dog, he’d probably prefer you to ‘get the smells’ for him, but that might look a bit weird! The walks could become memory walks, where you go to his favourite spots and remember the fun times.

Take care. Life is a struggle, and dogs are very special. Look after yourself and as @JamDrop suggests, maybe you could get some memory walks in to help you heal. Walking is always good for the soul.

So sorry to hear that, it just goes to show what wonderful companions our pets can be for people. I say pet but it's more like a member of the family.
Like Helen said 2 years is nothing, but the memories and love build up during that time will always remain with you. I hope you can push yourself to get back into the outdoors, fresh air and the natural world are good for feeling a sense of uplifting.

Good luck with the recovery from your own illness, fantastic that the surgery went well and long may the positive signs continue.

Keep talking, maybe find a walking buddy when you are ready and try not to bottle things up. Take care!

    Brilliant question.. impossible to answer..
    Horrifically but.. improving.
Last thursday was transplant day. Ive been on dialysis for around 3 years. My girlfriend has donated her kidney to a couple in london, who have then donated one to me. (A swap if you like)
Her op went relatively well, shes back home recovering.
Mine went terribly. 4 hour procedure actually turned into a 15/20 hour ordeal.. during which time the kidney had to be connect and removed twice.. before succeasfully attaching the 3rd time.
On top of that.. a clot had developed in my left leg.. which as we are, currently doesnt really work for anything other than tripping me up... not that im mobile.
So following the op i spent 2 days in intensive care, ona steady dialysis in an induced coma with ventilator and all that jazz.. woke me up sunday i think..
Got me stabilised and brought me onto the normal renal ward.
Fast forward a few days.. the kidney has now (today) started to actually do something and my bloods have shown a reduction in certain markers such creatanine and urea which is all positive!!
I still feel not great but hopefully getting better.
Had more drains and tubes than you want me to mention.. but hopefully by the end of today ill be down to just a cathetor and my old dialysis line.

My partner is doing well, home, a little sleepy but recovering well.

Got an email yesterday offering the chance to shoot for my seat. Cant quantify how gutted i am that i cant take part in that (both me and my dad have renewed) .. but onwards and upwards hopefully with a working kidney and plenty of freedom that i think every other relatively fit 32 year old craves!

Also, just wanted to point out, my girlfriend is a blade.. her step dad posted on one of their fans forums and the support shown to both of us by their fans has been outstanding. In a time of some increasingly terrible behaviour from football fans across the nation, that has been an absolute delight.

So good question.. and thank you for asking!

If you can sit down and write that - never mind having gone through it all – then you’re a stronger man than I’ll ever be. You’ve got this far and there will be light at the end of the tunnel. Keep going.

Exceptionally brave of you to write such a post on a public forum after the problems you've suffered, mate. Nothing I can say could alleviate the pain and grief you're going through right now. All I can do is rightly praise your bravery and wish you well on the road to recovery.

I wish I could be half as brave as you've been writing your post. You're certainly a better man than I.

Wow that's some extraordinary journey you are on. Everything crossed for you that the kidney continues to function and let you live a more normal life. Well done for getting where you are now after what sounded like a mammoth effort from the surgeons and your body in accepting it. First time I've heard a story around a loved one donating a kidney and getting one back in return.

Hopefully the reds can aid in your recovery by giving us some joy in the coming season. Keep on fighting!!

It took nearly an hour to write mostly with tears running down my face as there as been for most of this last week.
Your probably right I'm stronger than I feel possibly because I've learnt to deal with things my own way through suffering alone with depression for over 40 years on and off, it hardens you I suppose if it didn't I wouldn't be here because I've pulled myself back from the brink so many times

Hope your and your partners recovery goes smoothly @kiefer1912 , after what sounds like a very traumatic operation. I will never cease to be amazed by what our bodies can go through. Take good care of yourselves and each other.

Just the fact that you managed to put it into words was a brave and strong thing to do.
