30 p a meal. Even smartprice beans on toast would cost more than that!

Has previous for saying he won't watch England 'cos of the taking of the knee, was investigated for anti-semitic remarks, was a member of a Tommy Robinson supporting Facebook group and told council house tenants in his constituency that they should be "in the fields, picking potatoes or any other seasonal vegetables, back in the tent, cold shower, lights out, six o'clock, same again the next day."

    Sounds a 'lovely' chap.

Does he realise that nothing is 30p since his illustrious leader set Fishi Sunak loose on the economy, and inflicted Brexit on everyone?

This utter tw@ is missing a fundamental point. To start budgeting, you have to have something to budget with. There's about 2 million people, many in work, who do not have a cracker left to budget with. And still they keep voting for them. "Good old Boris, the Tories gave us foodbanks. We never had them under Labour." Sometimes I despair.

I’ve given this 30p challenge to Mrs Statis because she’s a good cook and mad enough for anything. Like marrying me. She thinks it could be done in theory. But you’d be living on beans and other such stuff and the skills required to make it work would be beyond her. And no one would want to eat it after 2 days.

If it didn’t include cooking costs or ‘store cupboard’ stuff that everyone always excludes and it was 30p a meal, not a day then I could do it. There wouldn’t be much variety though and you’d definitely be missing some essential nutrients!

There is and element of Truth that many households HAVE lost the knowledge that my generation were handed down by parents who lived through WW2 and rationing.
That said..where the 30p per day figure was conjured up I have no idea nor how anyone could expect the sweeping condescending statement to be met with anything less than outrage.
Also times have changed and simple food light heat and shelter are no longer the essentials that families have to budget for. Given rising costs across the board particularly Energy I doubt you could cook anything for 30p as the gas or electricity alone would probably cost more than that. Cheap cuts of meat require far longer coming time in any case. I wonder how often that idiot actually dons an apron and rustles up a meal for 30p let alone for a full days worth.

It costs more than that to turn the oven on.

Sadly this is what you have to expect when entitled people are left to run a country.

As per my previous post.. I can agree with the statement that there is a problem nowadays with some people lacking basic cooking skills but whose fault is that?
Govt scrapped domestici science as kitchen classrooms were too expensive to maintain. In many low income families both have to work often long hours or more than One job to make end meet. Daily local shopping has been replaced with One big weekly shop requiring a car or taxi to go to the supermarket.

People have been refusing raw ingredients at food banks for that very reason.
