Yeah,I get that and, as I say, I definitely want shut of them they're poisoning the club but neither the 750k or not having paid for the club yet is money in their pockets. I don't know what their motive is but in none of their acquisitions since Nice do they seem to have made any money of any significance for themselves.
I finf that worrying in itself. At least for them to take money out we'd have to be successful enough to generate it in the first place.

It would be really beneficial to know but given the limitations of disclosure in accounts of directors remuneration, the only way we'd find out is trough voluntary means on behalf of the club/directors.

Our directors remuneration has increased significantly from when they took over and last year was circa £400k with the top paid director earning circa £200k. James Cryne suggested he wasn't taking a salary or charging rent for Oakwell in the key pandemic times.

I'd very much like to know how the other £200k was distributed.

I’m not having a go at you. I’m discussing your post. It has zero relevance to the poster.

I listed some evidence that suggested when we had the right people running key positions at the football club, the plan was pretty clear, and it looked like we were trying to field the best possible team we could. Your response to that was to pass it off as the CEO going against the owners and not much else. Which one of us was debating the point there?

There was no attack. Did you not dismiss the success like it was a fluke? Am I not allowed to make an observation that the response wasn’t constructive if you’re trying to debate the points made?

Maybe because you haven’t been going to Oakwell regularly for so long you didn’t feel it, but that Daniel Stendel season was the most enjoyable since we got to the Premier League. It didn’t have the standout moments like under Hecky (Wembley twice) or the drama of winning on penalties at the Millennium Stadium. But as a season as a whole, travelling the length and breadth of the UK, it was unbelievable.

We then finished fifth in the Championship. Fifth. We were the 25th best team in English Football. This was amongst the backdrop of arguably the worst periods in society over the last 30 years. It was awful for many people and for different reasons; not being able to see new borns, losing loved ones, being isolated from the world, or being sick yourself. Lots of other reasons too. But Barnsley Football Club made that a hell of a lot easier thanks to those running the football club wanting to do what was right for supporters and give us the best team possible. We kept Mowatt against all the rumours that he would leave for free. Brought in Helik in the Summer, our POTY and a Polish International, and as mentioned signed James, Dike, Morris and Kitching for reasons already mentioned. The content from the media team was top class, the head coach was an inspiration, and the players played with a passion and determination I’d argue might have eclipsed the Premier League promotion team. I understand you didn’t enjoy the football. Maybe that’s why you didn’t debate the positives I listed?

Both of these successful seasons were followed with disappointment. Whilst stabilising in the Championship is difficult, the only consistency is who ran the club on both occasions. That’s where the plan breaks down - not having qualified, football people running the day to day operations. But to suggest there isn’t a plan at all, in my opinion at least, simply isn’t true. We almost had it working. But one man thought he knew better and chucked what had made the plan start to work in the bin.

This is what I don’t get. Every club they acquire seems to crumble, can’t see how they’re making any money at all.
Instead of investing to improve their clubs to make them a success they just go out and buy others.
    Completely bizarre to me….

Is what you posted. So the discussion isn't about the points in question, you turn it around seemingly to try and delegitimise the poster and undermine their opinion. You do it repeatedly, and no, I'm not going to trawl through all your past posts to demonstrate that, you can do that if you so wish.

Maybe you don't realise you're doing it. But it's not good.

I've said multiple times, if you can be civil and debate the points without aiming at the poster, I'll happily debate. But we must be on the 6th or 7th time where I've had to call you out on this. And frankly, there's just too few hours in the day and far more important things in life. Let's just revert to giving each other a wide berth. I think that's the best for everyone. You, me and most importantly, the BBS community.

My response was perfectly civil and made some valid points. I find it interesting that you’ve still not really responded to them, given the claim is the need to focus on the points, but that is what it is. Like I said, maybe you just feel different towards certain seasons because you weren’t there at the coal face enjoying them or it was a style of football you didn’t like. Fair either way.

Not much more to add really. My points on your claim there’s no plan at all are pretty visible. More than open to discussing those some time, but for now have a great day.

On the one hand the directors' payments they're taking out are a pittance given they're supposed to be billionaires.
On the other maybe they have very little money but a smoke and mirrors scheme that gets them past proof of funds requirements and then allows them to take Directors' salaries x seven clubs.
One thing's for sure they're not in it for love of the game because they're never here or, I imagine at any of their other clubs. Given, therefore, the modest salaries they take out are actually big in real terms because they're not rich or they have motives that aren't money driven.
I'd happily welcome one of them coming out and explaining why I'm wrong.

Given you can't be civil with me and always have to make things about the poster, your follow up wasn't even read. But it's unfair of me to ask something of you which you can't do.

Enjoy your day too. Wide berth reinstated.

Though I'm not going to go down the route of their lack of finances and notional billionaire status again, you could certainly see a potential route of nominal investments using other peoples invested money to get a directorship and take out nominal amounts. If they can get say £20k a year from each of their (say) 10 clubs and have them cover most of your travel costs and expenses without having to do a great deal, thats better than a kick in the pants.

Can I just point out that you’ve taken one short paragraph from, from about ten in total (maybe more), and turned a comment on the content of your post in to a claim it was a personal attack. Maybe even one line from about 30+. It wasn’t, and I apologise if you read it that way.

You’ve then claimed I’m not being civil, or can’t be civil, whilst blissfully ignoring that you’ve attacked the poster not the post in your recent replies.

Personal reflection is always a good thing, as you suggested for myself. I would propose you practise what you preach on that one. This could have been in interesting discussion of differing opinions and been enlightening, but you’ve killed it stone dead unfortunately.

Let’s leave it there though for the sanity of ourselves and the BBS. I’m always available if you have anything to add, but I hope if there’s a next time we can focus on the points being raised rather than one line.

The directors listed on page 2 of the 2021 Accounts are R Zuk, PM Conway, JP Cryne, Ms WKG Hung, C Lee, DK Lee, NA Parekh, and K El Ahmad. The Accounts for the year before listed D Murphy instead of K El Ahmad. My guess is that the directors paid fees were R Zuk, PM Conway and D Murphy.

I'm past there being a next time and I'll go back to skipping your posts. There's just no point knowing what avenue you'll pursue, whether that's immediately on eventually.

It could be. It could be all of them. And hence why I'm very keen for transparency. We have had the constant suggestions from Conway that they've never taken a penny (though obviously, those claims are now dead in the water). If Conway (or whoever) is acting up as CEO in the interim, I've no issue with that (as long as its at market rate), but our director fees are well above the levels before they came along (though I do accept Zuk being made a director has added to historic levels) but it would certainly be helpful to know just what we're paying out given our circumstances.

I have addressed subject of the elephant in the room in previous posts, but I want to do so again because those who analyse the reasons for our failure last season continually ignore it. Most posters will base their judgement of the success or failure of the club solely upon performances on the field and league placing. That is fine. I do not expect that the knowledge of Finance and Accounts to be widespread. However, those running the club have to face up to the pressures that finance (or specifically the lack of it) place upon their decision-making processes. The example is an easy one to find. In the previous season, the club finished 5th, a league placing that has rarely been bettered. However, the club lost £4.5m, a loss that I do not think has ever been exceeded. Many put that down to COVID and the absence of fans from the ground, but the club made a claim on its business interruption insurance policy that limited the those losses. The loss of £4.5m was incurred mostly through overspending, particularly on wages. That overspend had to be brought under control, because the cash had virtually run out.

Sadly, the Accounts covering this season are about 10 months away from publication via Companies House. However, the club Management Accounts will be available internally, and in view of the financial circumstances, those accounts will be imposing financially based limitations on internal decision-making. Those outside the club, the fans, are making assessments of the performance of the club's management without access to the full facts. They therefore ignore any consideration of finance, or the potential implications of the lack of finance. As I say, it is the Elephant in the room. As for your statement that, "we then made a mess of things in a way only Barnsley Football Club could". You have not looked at the money wasted on players in other Championship clubs, at the money wasted by owners who thought that they could buy their way to the Premier League. If you need a good example, all you need to do is look down the road at Sheffield Wednesday. Chansiri has invested well over £150m and the club will be playing in League 1 again next season.

    Couple of points in response:

    1. You haven't acknowledged here that we still brought in four players in the Summer and a Head Coach. Rumoured to be outside of the usual approach to recruitment, This included signing Oulare and Iseka on a 'CEO hunch/tip off' if you believe the rumours, and this led to zero to no funds being available in January to try and arrest our slide down the table. The elephant in the room from your perspective might be the acknowledgement that mistakes were made to contribute to the financial downturn, and whilst finances are important, how you use those finances is vital?
    2. The comment regarding Barnsley Football Club making a mess of things was tongue in cheek really. An often used 'typical Barnsley' type jibe. But it doesn't matter what Sheffield Wednesday have wasted really, because they haven't sent themselves crashing from 5th in the league to bottom in the space of 12 months. Which is the point being made.

The transfers on paper weren't bad Loko. You keep beating him with this but on paper, they weren't bad at all. Oulare was a good signing according to an actual agent the club have contacts with. Leya Iseka on paper and in videos you watch is a good player.

Also to blame everything on a non-football person is not great. Why aren't people in the club ownership and staff stronger with him if you are true.

The summer left Barnsley with the most rounded squad on paper in many a year. DM and LB ticked which was needed from the year before.

Where they over the season before the players, why didn't they ever get fit and put the work permit players on a training routine to get them fit? Could they have fixed the losing mentality in the Autumn wintertime with one to one mental help?

    Plus a lot more.

Is an agent going to tell you anything else? Odejayi looked like a world beater on YouTube.

He was acting CEO and Co-Chairman. We've admitted we signed players outside of the usual recruitment model. How strong are you with the big boss at work? Strong willed maybe, attempt exert influence, but ultimately they make the final decision right? And the reason they make the final decisions is because if it goes wrong that's where the buck stops and accountability is. Same if it goes right and works.

    I'm lost here. Sorry.

The agent didn't need to share it if he didn't think it was true.

James Cryne isn't an employee. He's a shareholder in the club and part of the recruitment team. If he felt that wrongdoing was been done then he's got the authority to call a director's meeting to complain about Mr Conway.

The last point. I'm saying the squad on PAPER was strong and more rounded. We added much-needed DM (Gomes and LB Vita.) Bit of pace and someone different in Oulare.
Also, we had a Left-footed CB fit in Kitching.

I think he's saying the squad is brilliant, best we've ever had, and the owners are fantastic, but we were relegated due to Beth and Whitey.
