    Deveany 5/1

    Big Mick 5/1

I know these odds probably don't mean a lot but its the only indicator out there at the moment.

I'm as interested in who will be choosing the new manager as I am in who the choice will be.

I wonder if Mick McCarthy in some kind of football advisor role working alongside a young head coach (e.g. Devaney) could be an option, even as a part-time role for Mick.

I also think Lee Johnson could be a serious contender given how close he was to the Cryne family.

I'm Irish and a Barnsley fan, so Mick McCarthy will always be a bit of a hero to me. But appointing him would be an awful choice. He proved in his latest spell with Ireland that the game has passed him by tactically and what has worked for him in the past is very outdated. Cardiff fans quickly found the same.

He's a hero, but not the answer to our problems.

I was thinking along the same lines myself, to try and persuade Warnock or Mick Mac to take the job for one season with a brief to sort out the imbalanced squad and at the same time develop Devaney and Harban with a view to them taking over the season after.

Looks like LJ is very close to being appointed new Hibs manager.

These owners have never appointed an English manager have they? - or even someone I've personally ever heard of.
I'd sit up and take notice if Warnock took over, it'd be a sign for me that things are changing - but I'm fully expecting Unbekannter Osterreicher to be the new boss. Not that that would necessarily be a bad thing - you just don't know in football, it's worked well twice before.

Warnock on a three year deal. It would be his last job and worth his while. Build him an allotment. He'll be right.

I would hope not, given the loyalty they showed him only for him to piss off at the first opportunity when things got a bit better.

I'd be very disappointed if that bullsh1t dwarf were appointed for that reason, even ignoring the fact he's a crap manager.

Difficult to appoint a foreign coach and the staff he needs/wants since Brexit was implemented unless he’s internationally established .
I think the appointments of Stendhal,Struber and Val are in the past and probably not repeated in the near future .
Imo it’s likely to be someone already in the UK.

Well the last appointments were made with Conway and Chien at the Helm. The current management haven’t appointed any managers.
I’d expect the decision this time will involve Khaled and the Crynes and possibly Parekh/Quay
Also as others mention hiring a coach from Europe isn’t possible anymore unless he has a good record so we can’t hire a young Austrian second tier manager even if we want to.
Unbelievably Schopp did tick enough boxes but his back room staff didn’t

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Colin on a 2 year deal with Disco as his understudy to take over in year 3!

We need a manager/coach who both understands and has experience of league 1 and also the players who are available on the cheap. I'd take Karl Robinson from Oxford and also Schumacher from Plymouth. I think big Mick and Colin might struggle to communicate with our 19 year olds.
