We are just angry that Starmer stole our votes and lied to us. If he wanted to stand as a right of centre David Cameron style leader he should done that and campaigned honestly. I will never vote Labour while he leads.

To be fair 'the cult of Corbyn' is getting dredged up in this thread by someone who apparently doesn't like him, someone who appears to be anti-Corbyn, and they've added a sprinkling of the anti-semitism fiasco to boot. That's their right, but I didn't bring it up, I was just defending Corbyn to a degree in response to say he personally isn't antisemitic.

I take your point about him being far from perfect by the way, and I've moved on. I'm also in agreement with you about moving on from Brexit. It's done, we need to get on with life and the issues we face today, even if some of them came about or were exacerbated by B. We can't live in the past, because while we do these current wallies presiding over our country, whether their wonky tie is blue or indeed red, are getting away with murder.

He hasn't offered the same as Corbyn people don't believe it's achievable and therefore you spend your time in opposition shouting not able to make any difference.

Django,the referendum was 6 years ago,we left the EU formally 2years ago. The fact that people who voted leave can't move on,shows how stupid they are. They keep going on about Brexit because of the emotional feeling it gave them,the phoney sense of power and control. The reality is somewhat different for the population of the UK,increased costs for food,shortages of food and other essential goods and services. A loss of essential workers both UK and foreign, difficulties in recruitment in vital industries. The list goes on but at no time dp we ever get a apology or acceptance of how sh#t life in britain is because of this. The lies told by all the Leave campaigners,the broken promises. The delusional stupidity of British people never fails to surprise,the pain of Brexit is only just beginning.

 

I think there was a campaign to slur JC backed by Israel because of his outspoken opposition to the polices of Israel. If you look at the access Israel apparently has (pritty patels off diary meetings as a minister being a classic example) it’s clear that the establishment is under some influence of a foreign power which would not be tolerated if it was, say, India or China.

 

Fair point, he did live in the district but lives in Halifax now. I think the bigger issue for me is that our own rules say selection panel should include 4 members of the local party and Stsrmer himself said after being elected leader that local parties should select their candidates. In this case the local party has been presented with a very short list consisting of 2 people they had no say in selecting.

There was a whipped up media frenzy that overstated it for political reasons that frightened people. That Whst the right wing press do. Promote hate and division. The reality was very different. Again facts showed that Labour membership was less AS than the population as a whole and the main criticism of Corbyn. Was that he tried to get AS dealt with more quickly. Mysteriously gone away now that we are back to two Tory parties.

 

He made 10 pledges. He has broken them all.

He got elected on the basis that he would advocating nationalisation of utilities. Now we are in a energy crisis and he has rowed back on that and is offering a one off 600 quid windfall tax.

He also promised that UC would be replaced. He now wants to improve it

He argued against rises in corporation tax. He’s economically to the right of Sunak and around the Cameron space on social issues. Abstaining on many crucial issues like voter ID.

I don’t mind him being a centre right cameronite but he should have run his campaign as one. He didn’t. He was dishonest. He knew he wouldn’t get elected on that basis. I won’t vote for a liar and will encourage anyone not to.

Yep, same here. I’d rather have a Tory lying incompetent in power than a Labour (but really Tory) lying incompetent. At least you know what you’re fighting against.

 

i have no interest in Labour. I will be voting Green. Labour would be my 4th or 5th choice.

 

I'm fed up of this argument to be honest. I consider myself and the vast majority of the country to be 'better than a Tory.' Do I consider myself to be electable and a better choice? No. Is Labour partly to blame that they are seemingly in perpetual opposition? Yes.

The party is a shadow of its former self, and I'm sick of people getting all misty-eyed and nostalgic over a Labour that no longer exists. It clouds their judgment. There are other options. I wouldn't trust a Labour government with Sir Keir in charge, nor do I trust this current shambles who occupy parliament. I don't trust them one iota.

Edit: while Labour and Tory play tit-for-tat over the barricades of the Commons, rather than Labour committing to a credible force for change, neither of them are a good enough choice for power.

 

Until PR is introduced, there aren't really any other options. Anything but a blue or red vote is a wasted vote.
