I don't think Morris is the main striker Andy Mac. I think he's left of a 3 in a 433. or left-winger in a 4231. I didn't think ALI was one until recently and I saw he played the main striker role for Metz and looked like he could run in behind.
Keeping Morris would be the one statement of intent I'd like to see. I have no doubt that he'll perform really well in league 1, and if he does then I can well see that he'd fetch a much bigger fee in January than if we sold him right now. This is exactly the kind of 'speculate to accumulate' decision that I hope to see from the new board - it doesn't require investment, just good judgment of the impact of winning matches on transfer fees.
I think holding onto Morris is more realistic than holding on to Styles, Helik, Collins or even Woodrow. So I wouldn’t be surprised if he started the first game.
My 2 pennorth. Vic. An honest grafter and a lovely human. It would be nice seeing him try a new challenge, for both him and us. But of the 2, I would keep him over Palmer purely on the fact there is more effort in a 10 minute Vic cameo than there is in a Palmer half-season. Palmer. Decent early promise so we know he can play. But after those first couple of games he started to look like a lad who believed he had made it and stopped trying. That's only an opinion and based on observation, not knowing the lad. Mentioned above is the fact that under a coach with a clue, he may start to perform. I'd have kept Halme over him, even though Halme contributes one game a year Clean slate for all, let's see what happens.
Completely regretting renewing my season ticket now. Choosing to offer the likes of Palmer a new contract shows that performances on the pitch are NOT the priority regardless of what ******** our 'new' board claims
I get where you’re coming from, but go back a year & look how contrasting our situation was compared to now. Palmer had a leader alongside him in Mowatt, our skipper at the time, earlier on in the season he had the influence of Matty James to help him along, it was clear to see that helped! Palmer was one of our most talented players in that squad with a manger who clearly specialised in motivating players. In my opinion all we need is to sign a strong leader at centre mid, someone with experience, & obviously get the managerial decision right, then I believe it could give him the kick start to his career he really needs, at a lower level as well so less pressure.
Keep Morris and Woodrow we will have an attack force in league one . Marshy and aichinson as back up we will be ok . Helik deserves to go, great future, Collins too. Styles I’d keep but he needs to improve. We should offload benson, palmer and Cole soon as we get the chance
Not mentioned yet, but we’ve offered Hondermarck a new deal. As well as Sraha. I’d expect both to be considered for first team at points next season. Also looks like Cameron Thompson has been offered new terms too. To offer these players deals suggests they are expected to challenge. Would be ridiculous to keep loaning out and retain such a massive squad.
Doesn't matter. Under no circumstances should someone who has given so little shits this season be rewarded with a new contract. His pathetic attitude has been a large part of why we are in league 1 next year and he gets offered a new contract? ********. Can only be in order to try to cash in if someone else is stupid enough to want him
Jinadu has been our sub keeper up until recently when he got injured and now he's been released. It can't be based on ability so it has to be because we don't want to pay for his recovery.
He only played for 60 mins a game under Val most weeks and sometimes subbed at half time. Sorry but disagree we shouldn’t have been even contemplating offering him a new deal.
I'm impressed keeping the squad together is the best chance of an immediate return to the Championship. Midfield and up front we have loads of options. Sell Helik, Brittain, Collins, Styles to balance the books and it's looking good.
