The times he controls the ball are far outweighed by his lack of control . I think he’s been given enough chances tbh and he needs to be moved on , As nice a bloke as people say he is we can’t keep him on sentimental value . The most simple of passes and it bounces ten yards off him . If we keep him obviously I’ll cheer him on but I can’t see his ball retention rate changing anytime soon and imo there’s better out there that won’t be on his salary .
I think you’re underestimating the wages that get paid to players these days. If we replaced him with someone of similar salary you’re either plucking a youngster from non-league, a released Prem/Champ player who’s never kicked a ball in anger for a first team, or an over the hill journeyman from lower than League One. Did we complain too much when he was making cameos for Stendel as part of the squad? Or when he came in and gave his all for 30 or 60 minutes under Val? I get the complaints as our main striker. I don’t if he plays a similar role to the one he’s had in successful seasons for us.
A successful team covers a multiple of needs improvements as we found out after promotion. Imo it was resting on our laurels with players such as Victor that was our downfall . It was imo the owners not investing that hamstrung Daniel the following season . As I say he’s had ample chances and imo hadn’t cut it .
It's a bit depressing to conclude that we choose not to try and acquire a forward who might turn out to be better than Victor. Bless him and sorry.
All I can say Marlon is that sometimes he surprises me with his ball play. Maybe I’ve given him a low bar to achieve, because I supposed him to be a bit of a donkey. He’s not that.
i’m quite aware what the list is Loko. My issue is, why have we offered new contracts to Vic and Palmer, they are not good enough for league one in my opinion, and many more agree . I just wondered why had made the decision. Once again though you have to try and belittle me. Get off your high horse pal and stop being pedantic.
Why would you want to replace him with anyone ? We have Marsh & Bremhang coming through who need game time in which to progress , these players are already on our books , get rid of Victor , Miller ( who in my opinion is far in front of Victor ) Iseka & Oulare for me , keep Scmidt , Morris & Woodrow & Cole which still leaves us with six strikers & four players off the wage bill .
It feels pretty obvious that we’ve offered Palmer a contract to ensure we get some compensation should be leave. If we hadn’t have done that then the club would have rightly been criticised. Which means you’re basing your whole season ticket decision on Big Vic being offered a new one year deal. Madness in my mind, but each to their own.
It isn’t true we didn’t invest though. How we invested and what we invested can be challenged for sure, but it’s false to say investment didn’t follow promotion. More of an issue was the experience that we let go that Summer. Although I think Moore was out of our hands, as proven since he left (lack of a replacement definitely hampered us though).
I feel like the club get criticised when they continuously sign players who ‘might’ fit in and be useful. On Viv’s salary it’s going to be an even bigger punt than Miller and Benson. Assuming I’ve understood what you’re trying to say here. Wasn’t particularly clear.
Yes , that why I included him in the 4 strikers for me what we should lose , although he has scored more this season than the other three put together but to be honest with our top heavy squad none of these need replacing .
Is signing punts an investment or a gamble ? Apart from Malik Wilks I’m struggling who we signed to fit straight into the team . We replaced Pinnick with Mads who was way way out of his depth .
Way out of his depth when thrown in with other inexperienced players new to Championship football. As proven under Val, wouldn’t have been out of his depth if used properly. He also came back in to the team under Struber and played really well in our survival run.
How many chances does he need to prove himself? He cant cut it unfortunately and at the age of 24 how long do you keep saying hr has potential or there's a player in there?
That’s exactly my point punts were thrown into the Lions Den and Daniel under a bus . We were told that leaving players would be replaced with better quality replacements each time till we were eventually replacing our star players with with up snd coming players and not punts . After our promotion under Daniel imo was hopeful punts apart from Wilkes who had proven quality that couldn’t be nurtured with the few Chsmpionship ready players we had left after the fire sale .
So we give palmer a new contract just in case someone comes in for him then we get compo ? Is that correct? What if nobody does come in for him ? Are we then stuck with him and paying out a wage to someone who’s not got the stomach for league one imo? My opinion is we need a strong midfield for league one and at the moment we have not .
I think if someone else doesn't want Romal then we should be happy. Romal started the season well. Like with many players who people have slagged off people are judging him on ONE bad season. A season when Fitness and Confidence drained out of the players.
He had the stomach for the fight at Championship level under Val. What’s to say he wouldn’t have the stomach for the fight under Duff or someone else, a league lower? He was outstanding those first few games of the season and then simply awful. But he wasn’t alone in that. The contract will be at wages in our favour should he sign. You’re not answering my point though (as per, irony, chortle). You’re basing your whole season ticket decision on Big Vic being offered an extension?
