The only players imo that seemed to have an understanding and togetherness last season was Collins , Helik snd Mads , the rest were a complete shambles regards an understanding with each other .
We could have brought in twenty strangers straight into the squad with more understanding and probably would have had a better pass rate.
We almost had a squad of individuals with some giving everything and some not so .
I’d get rid of almost all of them with very few exceptions although I realise we won’t / can’t do that .
But players that have had chance after chance season after season are not somehow going to come good and form understandings given the attitudes of some and inabilities of others .
There’s not many I’d keep and some of them will want away anyway so imo build a new squad get rid of the dross and non committed
It’s gonna be a big building job choose what with the better players wanting away so make a cleanish sweep and put the Barnsley FC back into Barnsley .

 

In his defence, his goal rate is only worse than Morris' at the club last season, which to me says Victor should only shoulder some of the blame. The lack of creativity from midfield was alarming, and is the main area which needs to he addressed in the summer.

 

I take the point about the 3 games the previous season, but in the Val season he played in more games than last season and made the same number of starts. I wonder, did you raise more of an eyebrow at my observation he performed well in the Val season or at Super Tyke's continuous slating of Palmer week-in, week-out? Constant criticism of the guy following one of the best seasons in our history. And as for the midfield contribution under Val, granted it was limited, but are we to discredit Mowatt too? I think people have short memories. And I agree with you on the proving himself point, he has a lot to prove again - every single one of them has to prove themselves again.

 

Both needs addressing imo , one without the other would be pointless and imo Collins and Helik will be gone this season so the defence will also be in need of addressing and that’s why I’m saying as much of a clean sweep as possible .
On Victor and Morris front , Morris has a far more productive role in the team , maybe the goal stats don’t suggest but I’d wager his assists and presence in attack is far more lucrative than Vics.

 

You were the one comparing their salaries.

I’m not sure how of why you’d know either of their wages or how you know that we couldn’t replace Vic for cheaper, but you crack on.
