btw, we don't receive a single penny for the junk mail we deliver now, i used to get between £40-£60 a week donkeys years ago
The current climate of 9% inflation? More power to them I say. My union ballated for strike action at our 1.75% offer but not enough people voted for the strike to stand.
We get a supplement on our wage for them ,20 quid or maybe a bit more. Good money back in the day but not now.
honestly, this payment is nothing to do with d2d's it got scrapped years back, they replaced it with a supplement most get even if they don't touch a d2d, the junk mail is delivered free by us as part of our duty
Not greedy at all. What's greedy are all the fat cats and those take, take, greedy ******** that attempt to pit the lower paid against each other. No one should ever feel guilty about wanting a decent standard of living. Work to live, not live to work. Read the Ragged trousered philanthropist mate. ( I must mention it several times a year) It'll all become clear.
Royal Mail is the most shockingly badly run organisation I ever worked for. I could write an essay on it. Glad I got out just in time before it seriously damaged my physical health.
You're spot on there ,waste more money then soft milk, really bad management and to some extent bullies.
i hear you, done over 17yrs and seriously wonder at times how we exist! but I'm probably institutionalised now, if you have a backbone it can be good but they absolutely devour the new guys with a promise of full time hours
I did 10 months as a Postie at the Barnsley office, I did not enjoy one day of it, the office itself is a depressing shithole, the management are a joke and the whole thing is stuck firmly in the early 20th century, the work is quite enjoyable once out of the office, but, it is hard work especially in winter, and as previously stated the junk mail or door to door as its known is a complete waste of time, the customer bins it and the Postie gets naff all for delivering it. Add to all this, the equipment and vehicles are not fit for purpose and the systems in place to sort mail is nothing short of pisspotical. The Postie deserves a lot more than what's been offered.
I worked for Royal Mail for 21 years. I left in 2017 after being offered ill health retirement. Hearing the horror stories from ex colleagues, I'm glad I got out when I did. Royal Mail staff are underpaid and undervalued. And the less I say about higher management within Royal Mail, the better. I fully support the lads and lasses in any strike. I hope they get their desired pay rise, without any strings attached.
It’s worth noting that a large amount of that total group profit came from GLS and not Royal Mail plc. GLS has been keeping the group afloat for quite some time due to a serious lack of investment in Royal Mail when it was under government control. The government happily took money out of the business when it was blooming, then quickly washed their hands of it when they needed to invest. The CWU will spin the headlines in their favour to get as much support from members, but without some of these changes, Royal Mail will continue to fall further away from their cheaper rivals and be left with the burden of the USO. It’s very easy for the CWU to use shareholder payments and details of the salaries of those in charge to make a workforce feel less valued, but the reality is those salaries and payments are fairly standard elsewhere. Terry Pullinger never tells anyone just how much he’s earning, because if they knew, they’d soon realise he isn’t doing too badly either! The posties deserve a pay rise, they deserve recognition for all their hard work during the pandemic, but they also need to realise that the world is changing and they can’t continue to work in the same way. There are challenging times ahead, but I don’t think a strike will do anyone any favours.
It's amazing hiw many posties are on the BBS. I personally don't know any apart from the couple of lasses that deliver ours. Worth every penny they earn, day in day out in mostly **** weather. You have my sympathy if you strike.
Yer get threatened if yer don't work your day off it won't go, i had my long weekend a fortnight ago and came back to 3 days mail and FOUR untouched households ,3 days and customers have forked good money for it delivering NEXT DAY in most cases!!!
dare to differ re the gov control but pretty spot, RM & CWU are pretty much useless but i will always back my union work to rule is a definite no-no with the cwu
