3 points. You don't know what we will get for Cauley. Where did this Fulham thing come from? Not heard any of the 3 CEOs mention it since he arrived. It would be about a release of the financial commitment. You can get 2 top players for Cauley. Buy one and get a top loan in maybe to cover the striker position.
I was once linked with Kylie Minogue. Admittedly only by me, having never met her, and only I repeated it, but that link had the same tensile strength as this one.
I know they have Ed Sheeran spending cash on them and he's one of the top tax payers in the country but he's not going to be helping them spend seven figures on him. Dane Murphy told the Yorkshire Post that Fulham have a sell on clause and that's just one example of the many many places it's been mentioned....... https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spo...fers-oakwell-qa-tykes-ceo-dane-murphy-3012636 When he left Luton their MD said ""Whilst we are saddened to see Cauley leave, we are happy with the deal which could rise to seven figures, depending on Cauley's success and which also provides us with a very healthy sell-on clause should his career take him away from Fulham." Because Luton were getting a percentage of what we paid Fulham, they covered themselves by inserting a sell on to us. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/f/fulham/9436572.stm If a Championship club comes in for him I don't think I would even sell then. Play him up top and he gets twenty league goals at this level. That's worth more even with the risk of losing him next summer for nothing than say selling him for one million but only seeing 500-600k of it.
Thankyou Dreamboy. But the clause could be 10% for all we know. Cauley was done when Barnsley got him. I remember talking to a couple of Bristol City fans pre covid in their sports bar and They were brutal about him.
Can't understand this cauley clamour to oust him....you don't miss it until its gone springs to mind....the blokes been carrying an injury yes hes not had the best of seasons nor did others...most of the time he's been on the back foot to see anything of the ball .... If he does go, it will be down to necessity on the clubs part, rather than him saying he's off ....
Same with Mowatt last season, obviously a lot were saddened by it - but I couldn't believe the amount of people who said they didn't care
They can't sell him to them. I expect to see Cauley leave but we can't sell to another team in our league. Many will expect us to be around the playoffs next season and Ipswich will also expect to be in the mix for promotion too so we cannot improve a rival in that mix.
For me Cauley's time is up for us. We need to offer the new lads a chance & cash in on him. He's done a great job, but we need to cut our cloth & try & make a new start. If he takes a new contract with us it will have to be on a lot less money. At his age he ain't gonna do that & fair play to him.
I wouldn't necessarily go that far, but I do think that we need to either build the team around him or let him go. I even felt a bit sorry for him under Val. I love the guy, but he's spent quite a few of his best years in a team playing a system which has never allowed him to really play to his strengths. If he's going to be the main character in our return to the championship then he's definitely worth it. If he's just going to be the penalty taker in a system that doesn't suit him then he'll probably be too expensive and it's best for both him and the club that he move on.
If we can get a decent offer and not just do it cheaply for the sake of it, then I think its best we get rid and move on. There was his length of the field run and finish at Swansea in the Play offs last season, and his brilliant free kick at Stoke this season. But apart from those, what else has he done for the last 15 months or more ?. He shun't have been made captain either, although I dun't blame him for taking it if it was offered to him. I just think the talk of him going to an Ipswich team who under performed this season, is weird.
What nonsense. Look at his stats for his first two seasons with us. His performances since then can certainly be questioned but to say he was "done" when we got him is ridiculous.
What's that got to do with anything? He was a very young loanee when he was there. Most BFC fans would be pretty brutal about Jon Walters or Ivan Toney when talking about their performances in a red shirt.
