https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/a...-pre-season-start-with-new-board-set-to-speak Different Chairman, different CEO Different owners but the same sh*t Why are Barnsley Football Club so bad at things like this. Middlesbrough got rid of one, one day and appointed the next the day after before the sacked one cleared the desk. 6 weeks to get a coach. It's a Joke, Khaled.
Calm down, we must get this appointment right. There’s a good few weeks before the start of pre season, plenty of time to get the right man.
He must also give him time to shape the squad. He can't just go into training and everything okay. The best clubs get May and June right. I'm seeing a few clubs who will be on it next season and some that could struggle already. Aston Villa BTW, will have a great season 22/23 because you can see Christian Purslow means business this time.
Beginning to think we could be after Paul Cook. It might explain the delay with Chesterfield in the National League play offs. If we're serious about Duff I don't see why it's dragging on so long. He either wants the job or he doesn't.
WHAT. Tell me which football club that does well thinks like that. I listen to Football podcasts and videos 10 hours plus a week to people like Darraugh Mcanthony when he's doing the pod and the other business pod stuff and they talk about it in the complete opposite way. The best started months ago and will be at the busiest until September the first.
We've only known since March that we would be needing a new head coach for this season ....so another few weeks before the club gets someone in sounds about right lol
Like I said earlier..if it's Cook his season hasn't finished yet. Then he'd want a couple of weeks in the sun before he started for next season. So that would be another month maybe. Anyone else who's season as finished or not even working then I'm stumped to what the hold up is.. apart from indecision. Or are they just so scared of getting this one wrong that they're crossing too many t's and dotting too many I's. hence the f'erkin questionnaire.
Id rather they take time to get it right and have someone in in a fortnight than rush and get another Asbaghi/ Schopp.
agree with higgy on this. generally speaking, the time it takes us to recruit new managers is ridiculous. I get that it's important to get the decision right, but we also take ages to recruit $hit managers.
You and I might not agree with things he might say but he does understand how football works. He made mistakes, he admits he made mistakes in the past.
You beat me to it. Out of all the people in football to listen to, he would not be high up on the list.
As Whitey has pointed out above though, there was only a week between Val and Poya, and iirc, a few weeks between Struber and Val. I don't think the timing makes a difference, so long as you get the appointment right. If we take another fortnight to appoint Duff and get promoted, nobody will batter an eyelid. At the same time, we could have rushed to get someone else lined up before the season ended, and still have a bad season. It isn't an exact science.
I’d rather we get it right than rush in. If we are still at this point next month, then maybe I’ll be worrying but I doubt that will be the case.
It's the things he says that are the problem though pal. He's very good at making things sound better than they actually are. Take the Ivan Toney transfer for example, the accounts show that Peterborough didn't get anywhere near what Darragh made out they'd got for him. Then there was the cleverly worded interview he gave after Kieffer Moore signed for us rather than them. He'd got the media reporting that Moore was on nearly £10k a week with us, when in reality it was nearly half as much. My point is, I'd take everything he says with a pinch of salt. He'd make a great politician.
