My own personal choice for the next manager would be for Nigel Clough. He has experience at this level and he's done an outstanding job at Mansfield, getting them into the play offs. JFH at Burton and Michael Duffy at Stevenage lack experience at League one level I feel. My second choice for the job would be for Neil Warnock, he's not my favourite peson but his Football knowledge and vast experience would definitely help us get back into the Championship.
I wouldn't be averse to Nigel Clough. He'd be a solid choice I reckon. You'd have thought he'd be well up our target list.
What about micheal duff at Cheltenham? Joking aside duff would be my number one choice. Clough at burton was know for a negative approach And while he was at Sheffield United.
From the Chronicle: On the managerial search in general, El Ahmad added: “There are three buckets. One is very experienced, one is up and coming with not much experience and the other is what I call a solid candidate with some seasons behind them. We want a manager who wants to come to Barnsley. It has to be the right fit.”
Clough is a bit old school. He seems to take the same players from one club to another. Not a chance that's happening with us.
In the Chronicle article it states Khaled has confirmed Devaney won’t be offered the head coach role but will be part of the 1st team.
Clough's peak is probably League One level. Duff has less experience but I think he definitely has potential to work further up the leagues. My preference is Warnock, I think it would be a great signal that we intend to win, but Duff would be my second option.
Mark Warburton would be my choice. Given his name hasn't been mentioned it obviously won't be him but I think he was harshly treated by QPR, plays a decent style of football and would be an appointment with a return to Championship football in mind.
