You'd think this extremely basic requirement would be mentioned in the erm requirements section of the ad wouldn't you
Every one I looked at were unpaid, and as i said didn't stipulate any of the other requirements listed. It sounds like a high number of companies are in breach of the law, unless your claim is false. I must say having looked at the BFC post it didn't strike me as 'illegal'.
I was referring more to your claim that the BFC advert is illegal, which is your claim isn't it (backed up by @SuperTyke of course)
Ok, if we make up something that isn’t listed and claim it to be true, before they’ve even shortlisted or appointed the person, then sure. Maybe they’re also paying them £50 an hour and forgot to write that on their advert too.
They’re at best wasting people’s time and at worst breaking the law depending on who they appoint in those positions.
Making things up? You've made up it's illegal. It's a student placement. The students applying know that. It's the club trying to use the U18/23s platform as a way of giving opportunities to students wanting to break into the industry. The club aren't doing this to get free labour. They aren't roles that they need to fill, it isn't work that they have to do, the interns decide how much or little they want to get out of it. It's trying to give back. Of course, they could just not bother and in reality that is the choice.
The advert is the advert, it's either legal or it isn't, irrespective of who gets the position. My hunch is that it isn't illegal at all, but you and @SuperTyke have run with it. Supertyke in particular seems to delight in taking a swipe at the club at every oppirtunity, nobody is safe from his wrath. Khaled, the media team, and the Supporters Trust are all the targets of the hour. And the latter in particular stand no chance on any given topic, because despite Loko stating his views are his own and not those of the ST, Supertyke will go in for him regardless and claim that everything he claims is backhand info, straight round the back door hand-delivered by Khaled himself. As highlighted once again in this thread. Can't we all try and give the club just a little bit of credit, and be a bit nicer while we're at it, or is it too much to ask? And that last point on being nice isn't aimed at you personally @JamDrop, as you never, as far as i'm aware, resort to personal, petty insults. But plenty of others do, as shown again in this thread. Goodnight all, I'm out.
So we’ve landed on the club are idiots then who didn’t list the most important detail on the advert? What about the non-students applying who don’t know that? I’m not sure that makes it that much better to be honest.
Ha, I may have been a teeny bit insulting in my last post but it is warranted I feel and isn’t aimed at a named individual. It’s just one of those things isn’t it, where the club has been sloppy in communications and made themselves look bad when proper forward thinking could have prevented it. I’ve no beef with you though, have a good night. It’s probably past my bedtime too.
If you say so but I don't think there will be a tonne of people who aren't media students looking for this experience. I'm locking this one now since we already been round in circles with this once before. Look forward to the argument again next year
