What an absolute Yorkshire legend. Great comeback after losing captains armband. Great 100 and fantastic achievement to reach 10 000 runs. Onward and upwards Sir Joe.
And he did it before the new ball was due (saving the cost of a ball) and in time to get the ticket holders a refund. Any true Yorkshire person would be proud.
Root is absolutely class an absolute Rolls Royce of a batsman & if he avoids any serious injuries he could well end up in the all time top five greatest batsman in test cricket history, well done Joe keep going lad
this guy is an unbelievable batsman, sky joked about him going into his final 3rd of his career, so 15k runs is not beyond him, obviously age comes into it but could see him toppling the other great "yorkshireman" can't recall his name though
Brilliant from Joe. Classy knock, classy individual. New nickname 'Polyfilla' - 'cos of all the cracks he's covering in the England batting.
PossiblyTendulkar or maybe Sir Len Hutton or maybe Boycott, all those three are legendary but Root comes out top of the pile for me.
i'm taking the pi55, it's the great sachin, always remember with a pint o tetleys, n wonder he didn't drink!
Someone mentioned Sir Joe and it seems pretty certain he’ll be knighted, the question is when ? Very few, if any have been knighted whilst still playing. A pub quiz once said Hadlee did but I still dispute it. Anyway, why not give it to him now ? Thoughts
got durham game on telly and their comm said because of a leap year sir Alistair got there quicker by 1 day
Cook packed in with international cricket way too early. I fully understand his reasons but he left England in the poo. Might be wrong but Root will play on for at least five more years I reckon
