This isn't holiday time for anyone. If they won't come back to the UK to talk to the club they shouldn't be anywhere near the role. Look at Ten Haag. He got the job and a start date. Then later on said **** a Holiday and the Caribean I'm starting ASAP. Holidays can wait until they are retired. The club have dealt with this badly. I'm not a knocker of Khaled but for this I have to be and the club as a whole. It's been a disaster.
Yes, he turned down being part of the process. It happens. Initial question. Do you want the job? yes or no.
Control the controllable, no need for our club to fuel speculation even if journos and their ilk have. Anyway, I thought the club were in a self-avowed new era of 'under-promising and over-delivering'? Even more reason not to make statements that could easily be seen to build hopes up for someone to be coach/manager that we may never even have had a chance of and make the subsequent appointment appear underwhelming. Most worrying to me is timescale given the scale of change needed prior to the new season starting - it isn't a case of turning up on 20th and just whipping the players into shape. We know that there will be significant outgoings and the need for some shrewd signings before the squad is anywhere near settled and able to be schooled in the new HC's style. The new person needs to have input into all of that and if they are starting from scratch after 20th June that is worrying. It's also contrary to the KEA stated need to avoid another slow start to a season. Spectemur Agendo indeed.
So another delayed preseason of having people in post despite us saying we needed to get things in place earlier. They should have been in post prior to players returning to get know full status and also look at player retention/recruitment etc. we actually appointed Schopp on 29/06 after him leaving on 24/06. Let’s hope our slow recruitment serves us better than last year but despite having longer it would appear the process isn’t going to benefit us much.
