We can look at the Hasselbaink information in two ways. He's either had enough and turned down the job and committed to where he is. Or, we've turned him down and have offered to someone else.

If we've offered Duff, you'd think he'd wait to see the outcome of the Blackpool vacancy. But then that flies in the face of honest Khals suggestion of wanting someone who wants to come to Barnsley (which Warnock did state back in April).

Who knows who we'll get. But time is ticking.

If the allegation that the club arranged an interview with a candidate for probably the most important job at the club and then failed to turn up for the interview on time without explanation is true, then I'm afraid the CEO's incompetence has reached a new high no matter who the candidate was. If it is true the CEO should be sacked.

personally can't see it being because we've offered to someone else. why would we even be interviewing him if we had? not paying any attention to the Nixon story though. he's full of $hite. an ex-Sun journo, who's now trying to monetise his info, and bans people for sharing. he's a pri(k

alternatively, it could be absolute b0llocks, from an ex-Sun journo who's now trying to sell his so-called insider information

We do know Hasselbaink was interviewed and has committed to stay at Burton. Either he's turned it down or we've turned him down.

If we've turned him down, it would be amateurish not to have had an offer accepted from your main candidate.

I doubt we've turned him down. tbf, there's all manner of reasons why he might have decided to stay where he is. but I do think it was probably his decision, not ours.

I suspect we'll find out very soon who we've gone with. And I suspect that will be badged as our first choice.

Nixon's previous report/guesswork was that our ability to attract JFH depended on budget. If both his 'stories' are correct then that can only mean one thing - we don't have the budget for a zoom link :D

I'm surprised we'd use zoom. Just sounds a bit too nippy for us.

should have gone with Teams. then again, I'm guessing we're still on Windows ME.

    News from Burton.

BURTON Albion FC is aware of the speculation regarding Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and can confirm that the manager has spoken to Barnsley about their vacant position but has decided to stay at the Pirelli Stadium.

Burton Albion Chairman Ben Robinson gave Barnsley permission to talk to Hasselbaink but after speaking to Barnsley the Brewers manager had decided that he prefers to stay and continue his work at the Pirelli Stadium.

Hasselbaink said: “It’s always flattering to be approached by other clubs and to be offered new opportunities, but I have always been very happy at Burton Albion, and grateful for the Chairman’s support.

“I have always said that it’s a work in progress here and we have put the emphasis on bringing in young players and building for the future. I’m eager to continue that work and to carry on building an exciting squad here at Burton Albion.

“Just because we are a small club doesn’t mean that we aren’t ambitious and I’m eager to get on with the job and put the speculation about my future to bed.

“I want to thank the Chairman and the supporters for their patience, and I hope now we can all look forward to the new season together.”

Does a bit. Maybe we said, "Let's get together over Zooms at 2pm BST on Monday, Jimmy" and JFH took that to be an online meeting whereas what we meant was over ice lollies in Legends?

Oh zoom, you chased the day away
High noon, the moon and stars came out to play
Then my whole wide world went zoom
(High as a rainbow as we went flyin' by)
