Neil Warnock is 73 and a vastly experienced manager who is not afraid to speak his mind. If reports of candidates having to fill in an application forms which may include styles of play, etc does anybody think Neil Warnock( who does it his way) going to go along with that. I can't see it myself.
I can't see him coming either. Don't get me wrong as a short term fix, we would not find anything better IMO but I just can't see him wanting to do it given the way this board works. He also has his tour that has been on sale for a while, the dates would no doubt clash with fixtures etc. making it difficult for him to do both.
Didn’t Warnock used to do a regular Christmas show on radio Sheffield during his years at Sheffield United? My recollection of it isn’t brilliant but I think he used to have chats with other local managers, play music etc. I think he had a bit of a talent for it although no doubt some will disagree with me.
But every appointment is a short term fix as they are either rubbish and sacked or brilliant so get poached. Warnock should have got the job weeks ago.
No why would he want to take the heat for somebody else's decisions at 73 with his CV. I certainly wouldn't if I was him.
Who was it that missed out to Spackman based on the comprehensiveness of his "dossier"? I can't imagine Warnock burning the midnight oil on Opta stats.
True, but with Warnock it would only ever be a short term thing due to his age. With a Duff for example they could give him a 3 year deal and market it as a long term plan, also if they do well and leave at least it earns us some money. If it is not Duff though then we need to just get Warnock in if possible and stop messing about.
At 73 and the fact he has a house in Cornwall too, I just think he won't want the hassle of playing the way the board requires or not getting the players he wants. Easier for him to do the punit/after dinner speeches circuit. I hope I'm wrong but I don't think he'd fancy the job at this time of his career.
It wouldn't be a three year plan with anyone. Any appointment is short term for the reasons I mentioned. We could appoint Duff with a three year plan but if he's rubbish he'd get sacked like the last two and if he's good he will be on his way like Struber and Val. The days of us having someone for three years in charge are long gone.
