Boris will find that winning in the High Court today will cause him more problems with his MP's and peers than being defeated would have done. Meanwhile, we can expect a blizzard of individual actions by the potential deportees on Monday. Hopefully they all succeed.
Just a wild stab here - process their claims to stay according to valid policies which accord with their human rights and will stand legal scrutiny. Deport those who do not qualify according to legitimate arrangements for re-settlement.
After talking to my Tory voting uncle this weekend I've decided that anyone who is pro this policy is just massively uneducated on the issues. Doesn't know that there is no legitimate route to the UK for asylum seekers. Doesn't know what an asylum seeker is. Doesn't know that 82% arriving by boat are accepted for asylum in the UK. Doesn't know that the UK take one of the lowest number of refugees per capita in Europe. Forgets that most of the refugees are fleeing countries still scared by British imperialism and the disastrous Sykes/Picot line.
What do you mean by "these people"? I'm presuming you've been brainwashed into believing there's an unstoppable flood of immigrants into this country. When in fact what the ***** in charge have done is made it borderline impossible to apply for asylum without arriving here first. So they can claim that small boat crossing numbers are up (which is true) but overall asylum numbers aren't. And they get the added bonus of the Channel thinning their numbers out by drowning some of them, which they are completely indifferent to, the heartless c*nts. And of the people that do arrive the majority have their claims approved. But now we want a system where we can just ship them off to Rwanda without any assessment beforehand. It's ******* disgusting.
How do we call ourselves civilised if we treat those desperately seeking safety for themselves and loved ones like this??
A few comments on this. First have a listen to this from an “illegal immigrant” currently under threat and He isn’t an exception Second I think the Tories wanted to and expected to lose the court case far better to stoke the flames of the war on lefty woke lawyers than to actually have to go through with this insane policy third it makes me both Angry and Ashamed to be British that this sort of behaviour is coming from our government. The more I think about it the angrier I get. This is a policy that makes no financial and moral sense and is being done purely to appease racists who the Tories are now relying on to keep them in power
To be fair he's a nice guy and definitely not a racist. He's very successful and in the 'I'm alright Jack, everyone else should pull themselves up by the bootstraps camp.' His sons even called Jack... Just is tragically uninformed on the issue and stuck in a time-warp politically. This policy makes me so angry every time I hear it. About as heartless a policy as a western government can come up with in the modern era. How big is the jump between this and concentration camps?
Lots of nice guys can be racist. As can lots of people that are supposed Christian's. I obviously don't know your uncle. But I certainly know people that fit those 2 categories. The video from FR. says everything. Tearing folk apart from their family is about as obscene as it can get.
Even worse if you look at some of the replies to the original tweet it is a minority but still a significant number arguing he should have stayed in France or anywhere else rather than come here where he speaks the language and has family. Makes me feel ill
It's a given that this policy is an absolute disgrace and a very expensive taxpayers millstone. What I don't get though is the comments of "makes me ashamed to be british" It doesn't make me ashamed to be British as I love my country and all the quirky brilliance from people in it, most of whom share similar views to me on fairness and acceptance. These cnuts in Westminster don't speak or act for me in any shape or form to the point where I look down on the scumbags from the my average joe ivory tower.
Guilty by association. The British government elected, by admittedly a minority of those who voted, is behaving in a way I find abhorrent. If I find myself in discussions with others I find I have to explain it’s nothing to do with me and keep distancing myself from this bunch of corrupt and immoral leaders. Not just on this but also on their decisions to tear up the NI treaty, take us out of the Human Rights etc etc. Maybe it’s worse as I work for an Austrian company where the team I work with are a real mix of nationalities I’m certainly embarrassed to admit I’m British these days
Difficult one, just an opinion. Saying "Things like this make me ashamed/proud to be British mean exactly that. But saying "I'm ashamed/proud to be British" takes on a whole new meaning. We could also use the same language re Barnsley fc.
They’re the British Government though. People look down on Russia due to Putin and other countries due to their leaders. It makes me ashamed to be British whilst ever they represent us on the world stage.
help them? treat them like human beings? or alternatively, I guess we could send them to Africa. it's a fkin diabolical scheme. absolutely shameful.
