It just goes to show you how fickle football is and why players jump at the chance to move higher up the scale at the first opportunity more often than not. Only 31 and only scored 16 goals since 2017/18 (though obviously he's struggled with a few injuries) and now without a club (for now).
Probably is. But if you look back, given the injuries and likely drop in form... he'll say he was right to move when he did. And you can't really disagree with him.
He's had 3 1/2 years at villa 2 years on prem wages he will be a rich young man if he wanted to come to us he would. Not saying he should or we even want him but all this nonsense that we mean anymore to him than say Plymouth or Cork is just silly.
Of course it does. If he'd been with us when he had the first of his really bad injuries, he'd be much much poorer than what he likely is today. Though we all (and rightly) disliked the manner in which he left, given what went after, he was right to get the money when it was available.
He has big respect for Barnsley. And turned down a move to Wendy apparantly.(his own words) out of respect for Barnsley as a club and the fans, Who put him on such an high pedestal. I'm not saying he'd come here at present. As I believe he can still command a decent wage. The days have gone when there wasn't such a big gap in potential earnings. I look back at the 80's/90's players we had. And I reckon in today's world, we'd be lucky to sign any of em.
I din't want to see Winnall get hit by injuries of course, but I lost respect for him in the way his move came about. And as a result, I can't say that Im really bothered to be honest, that things have gone downhill for him after leaving us.
