It's available in great Houghton, but only at 500mbps. So I can't comment on them as a provider.

I'm with BT and on 1gig. Fast as chuff it is, and with multiple devices all connected and streaming etc, nothing is causing it any trouble at all

I was reading reviews of it recently, and it didn't look very promising, particularly from a customer service point of view.

The best from what I had read, seemed to be Plusnet. Supposedly good connection and good customer service.

I've been with EE for the last few years though and had no issues whatsoever. I've never had any issues with EE on my mobile either, and I've been wit them for about 10 years.

cool. 500mpbs is still blazing. typical fibre to cabinet is about 60mpbs, which is still absolutely fine. not sure why anyone would ever really need anything like 1gb, unless there's a dozen kids in the house, simultaneously streaming online gaming

tend to find the customer service angle is always pretty $hit with ISPs. I was with plusnet and I thought they were as bad as anyone else. maybe not virgin. they were truly appalling.

I just want something above 100mbs for the ps5 really Marc.

you get excited that a game comes out and then look at the download timer and think FFS. I'll enjoy it tomorrow.

I remember when I used to have to wait until my parents were going to Meadowhall. I pity bairns today who will never know the joy of excitedly reading a game's instruction book in the car on the way home.

Never come across them, but I've just checked my address and it's a lot more expensive than Virgin for what looks like similar speeds. This is in Birmingham though, no idea what their availability is up there.

I get about 350mbps through Virgin I think, and can't imagine ever needing anything quicker, although I get that's got the potential to be a bit of a 'one computer per city' statement. I quite often download videos etc to take round to my friend's house, and it takes about twice as long to put something onto a USB stick as it does to download it!

Most of the games I downloaded were done in well under an hour, but don't most of them allow you to download in advance now, and then play on the release date?

I am with Vodafone and its been fine and as a Vodafone phone customer i got a discount, also got extra money off as I took the plan out when working in NHS.

I get just over 55 mbs which is more than enough. Never have an issue with my PS5 when playing and doesn't take that long to install games etc.

Also, check online to make sure your postcode area can support 100mbs plus. I wanted super fast speeds like that but my area doesn't support those speeds so I went for a cheaper package as no point paying for 100 mbs+ if you cant actually hit those speeds.

Not in my area yet sadly. All being well it should be installed before 2024! No Virgin in my area either so stuck with a openreach line and 30mb internet at the moment. Was looking at Starlink too but that's quite the price at £500+ for the kit and £89 a month, but thats being upgraded all the time and could reach speeds of up to 10GB at some point in the future when Elon gets his finger out and sends up some faster satellites :D

Personally I think reliability is more important than raw speed. There's nothing worse than a flaky connection which for no apparent reason just st

FTTP (full fibre) will fix that.

Assuming the flakiness is the connection and not your devices or wifi.

Yeah in the days when a decent instruction booklet was all part of the gaming package.
These days, all they add is some pointless unwanted advertising for Dlc, or other games.
