Not many on here were saying Phillips was over-rated this time last year. In fact the way some have turned turtle on Southgate is pretty breathtaking. Dreadful performance last night, but I think the coach has a few credits in the bank. Namely World Cup semis and Euro final in last two tournaments. Not bad eh? I for one happy to cut him some slack and judge him when it matters and with fresher players..
I see what you are saying but to be fair the questions on his tactical aptitude have always been there. There's a number of factors, are we moving forwards or backwards? Does he know his best team? How are we playing? Has he taken us as far as he can? etc Personally - I think a different manager could get more out of this group of players.
He's phenomenal for Dortmund. Incredible player at such a young age. I agree with Chef Tyke, could easily be one of our best ever players if he fulfils his potential (Big ask, especially consistency)
What about it? He's only just turned 22. A very big player in one of, if not, the best team in the world? I wouldn't put it to be close to winning the Ballon dor at some point in his career - although I think it'll probably between Haaland & Mbappe just for the shear amount of goals and assists they get
Nobody has in the recent England matches mate. Little premature to expect a major impact after just 11 appearances as a starter for us, he's literally played just 973 minutes for England (thought it was more). The lad's won 3 premier league titles, an FA cup, 4 league cups and played in a final and semi final of the champions league before even turning 21, and coached by one of the best managers in the world. Imo he'd be a much better influence if we didn't have such a negative manager at the helm. There's absolutely no reason he couldn't be an English great if he continues like this. Rooney was one of a few who did make an immediate impact, hopefully though we might have a longer peak for some of our current crop I think Foden, Rice & Bellingham could be brilliant for England. Just my opinion ofcourse
