I'm sure he'll be fine finding somewhere to live in St.Albans or Harpenden to be fair.

More like £10k mate. And I doubt the 50% kicks in until a certain figure has been reached - which it won't be here. So any 'nominal' fee will likely be all ours.

Do you mean like all the rest of the players last season apart from Cauley was missing for a big chunk ?, if you are going on last season then you clear the lot out but we all know you cannot judge him on last year alone , he is a class act who will take some replacing .

We're a better team in League One with Cauley Woodrow. We're probably a better squad and a stronger football club without him (sadly)

He would have got 30 goals in League One under Stendel with a proper pre-season and starting 40+ games. Realistically in our top five strikers of all time discussion.

The whole team only scored 30 but if you are going to mention his goals scored why do you not mention his career tally & the level of football he has scored them at just so we can get a balance of his ability has a striker .

Im just pointing out that last season he was poor and the 6months towards the end of the season before for me he wasnt at his best. Yes he is a great penalty taker and a good finisher. Im sure he will score a few for luton next season. But for our top earner on 10k a week and club captain i think 4 goals (1pen) from 28 games isnt a great return.

There was clearly a big problem with the whole team last season with only 30 goals in 46 matches , you cannot judge him on that alone & I strongly believe we will be weaker without him & the fact that we are a division 1 club but it is a championship club that allegedly want him shows that he is better quality than the league we are in , if we want to get back up we need to hang on to as much quality as we can, we did last time & we bounced back straight away , Rotherham did last season & Smith helped fire them back up which is another example.

Think the Woodrow we remember isn’t the same one still. Say what you want about formations etc regardless of where he was played he was rarely influential any longer.

I suspect there were some points where his limbs just couldn't muster what he wanted them to do because the desire was diminished to some degree seeing the chaos and futility around him. And I'm sure there were points he didn't quite make the runs because he'd gotten so used to the ball never getting crossed and if so, not to the needed accuracy.

But I'm sure having him dropping so deep to pick up the ball because nobody else was doing it impinged on the greater skills he possesses. I'm sure that having the ball punted at him as a target man was frustrating beyond words. I suspect being dropped into a midfield diamond went against what he'd rather do and how he'd rather play. But he did it. Got on with and tried his best. His goal return was diminished, but thats understandable. I suspect many strikers would have struggled to create goals for themselves with the way the team was set up and the general decay that festered.

I think he's got serious quality when it comes to finishing and a very clean strike of the ball. But you have to get the ball to him in the right places. Wherever he goes, I'd expect him to be getting well into double figures if he's fit and playing to his strengths.

Cauley's looked like he needs a fresh start for a while. Owes us nothing and getting him off the wage bill will help hugely.

Obviously sad to lose such a good player but if it means we can keep Morris I'll take that. He's the only 'star' I'd be desperate to cling onto as he could be the difference in League One.

Rather keep Morris. I remember when he came there was a lot of cynicism. I was very excited when he cane but I feel for whatever reason he’s gone backwards for us.

To be fair, this thread reminds me of the comments about Mowatt last year….

It's a good move for all parties in my opinion*. He's going into the last year of his contract, and probably one of our top earners, so it seemed quite inevitable that he'd be one to go after we went down. A move very close to home, and back in the Championship will no doubt suit him.

I'm less bothered about his departure given his performances over the last twelve months, although no doubt he'd rediscover his form in League One. Good luck to him if it comes off.

*Good move for all if we keep hold of Morris, and bring in somebody to replace him. A strike partnership of Devante Cole & Leya Iseka isn't good for any party.

Luton's record fee paid is 1.2m.
They have only ever spent over 500k on four occasions.
All we are making out of this is a wage saving, the fee will be minimal especially once Fulham have their 50%.

I think Cauley is a luxury that we can't afford and deserves his chance to move on. If we are judging strikers on career stats rather than current form we might as well replace him with Winnall.

Totally agree with you. Woodrow had a disappointing season, but he has played well before and has a lot of quality. Given the right manager - which we may well have now - and played in his best position, I think he would have an excellent season ahead with us.

Completely agree. Woodrow and Morris up front would probably score a lot of goals for us in League One.
