Positive in terms of the new Head Coach and the toxic-two being voted off the board. Getting rid of our better players, in order to address the fall in revenue, is neither positive nor negative in my view. It’s simply necessity.

Spinning selling all our best players as positive is a new low for our fan reps. As you say it’s necessary it’s not great.

Real shame to see Cauley go. Modern day legend.

Would agree with you except Mowatt didn’t have a disappointing 12-18 months before leaving.

Not saying the rest have. Saying that he hasn’t. Yes he’s a natural finisher and takes a good pen, but if the balls not played on to him, he hardly busts a gut. Doesn’t win headers, poor hold up play, lacks strength and pace and spends more time on the floor complaining to the ref……… This is obviously only my opinion !!!!

Good luck to him, for whatever reason he was dialling it in for long spells, could have pushed on to the premier league with a better attitude.

Good luck Cauley, a great servant and ambassador for our club. Hope you get Luton promoted.

He definitely wasn't, what a load of tosh. Just a scapegoat.

Good luck Cauley, thankyou for your efforts in a Reds shirt!

    Inevitable but I’m still gutted.

I don’t see how any Barnsley fan can take joy in this. The consequence of avoidable failure is the loss of quality and assets. The first of several. But we know it is what it is.

A quality player, a gent inspite of being asked to go against his natural game and at his best a serenity that few of our legends have equalled.

You’ll be hugely missed Cauley, now go and smash it with Luton. Best of luck. Once a red, always a red.

    Where is this from?

I’d be amazed (and very happy) if it was that much given he only had a year left on his contract.

The icing on the cake of our excellent 2018/19 promotion team (after the '2 weeks' out injured :D) - super effort to get 5 in the 6 games ensuring our promotion prior to the last game at Bristol. I particularly remember his excellent performance at Plymouth in a game I was nervous about at the time.

He gave everything in differing roles under Struber and Val and still retained his class in front of goal. Playing under Schopp and suffering from injury last season wasn't his best but done enough over the previous three to be fondly remembered on the pitch and at all times off it.

Big loss in terms of a player to get us back up at the first attempt but hope he goes well for Luton, at least he's gone somewhere logical and inoffensive.

(Don't think this thread is the place to be guessing on afaik largely undisclosed financials to rose-tint his departure). Suffice it here to be sad but happy for him for football reasons.

It's about time undisclosed fees were banned.
Not only could it possibly lead to cooking the books or money laundering (Not saying that's us) but fans also want to know how much we've got for our star players. Rightly or wrongly I tend to think we haven't got value for money when it's undisclosed.

It's frustrating but then you can be held over a barrel by other clubs when you're looking to buy.

Thanks for the generous words of you Barnsley fans. I hope he does smash it for us at Luton. Danny Hylton left us today as a like for like swap that definitely is one in the plus column for us. I heard rumours of £500,000 but don't know and probably £7,000 a week unless smashing the wage cap

I knew how good he was. I always regarded Mowatt as our most important player.

Play him properly and you'll have a very good championship striker on your hands mate

It's all depressing, Jimmy V. Let's talk about Starmer again! :)
