Agreed. Just looked on Soccerbase and seen he's gone 20 league games without a clean sheet. A promotion push is a lot harder with a keeper who can't keep it out of the net.
I watched last season on ifollow. You don't need to have been at the ground to agree with everything you said.
Why are we talking about a promotion push? The squad will look nothing like it did at the end of last season, expecting at least 10 out and 10 in. Plus a new Head Coach and we expect it all to come into place and pushing for promotion
Anything less than a top ten finish I would deem a failure. At that level we will be one of the more attractive clubs when trying to bring in players and will have one of the better budgets. Honestly don't get why so many are negative about our chances.
No Jay you are right but I was just highlighting that watching on tv & watching live can give a different opinion of the game & players you have just watched .
I'm not being negative, I'm being realistic. This isn't like the last time we went down to L1 with a relatively settled squad. Multiple players in/players out together with a new Head Coach = a season of transition and stability for me
What support? Seriously. Woodrow struggled with any form. And by the time Morris became available he was left on the bench. Bassi being 1st choice followed by cole and vic. . I would certainly give him a run with Morris (if still here) . Especially in this division. Definitely one I'd keep an eye on if I was Duff. If Iseka subscribes to Duffs work ethic. Bear in mind, bone idle would have applied to several others last season. I remember Banksy and even Glavin (when he first arrived) labelled idle by some. But their contributions belied that fact.
A keeper who ended up behind a much poorer defence. Lost Helik. Weaker replacements. Brittain going missing. Aye. All his fault. For the sake of repeating. He was one of, if not, the main reason we stayed up under Struhber.
That might be. However, I'm quite positive the remaining players after the exodus aren't as bad as they've looked last season or made out to be.
Might be right, but we'll have to find out how much the players confidence is shot after that bad season. It'll be up to the new gaffer to sort this out
Put it this way that won’t be the starting 11 come first day of season and thankfully we’ve got a guy in charge who knows what he wants and knows what he’s doing.
You could put all three new signings in the starting line up. Them with Thomas, Aitchison and Ackroyd. That's 6 players that haven't been scarred. Then you've Marsh busting a gut and chomping at the bit. I make that seven players. Jordan Williams back from injury. 8 players. That leaves three. I rate Iseka and Kane had a decent loan spell. That leaves 1. It isn't as bad as people are making out. You can only field 11 players and 5 subs. It's not a disaster. Not by a long chalk.
I think you are over estimating how many we are going to lose. They have said sales are inevitable but sure they said we wouldn't have a full on fire sale. Woodrow, Helik and Styles were obvious ones to leave, one of which has gone already. Apart from those 3, I don't see many other of the big boys going. I am fairly confident that Mads, Collins, Morris and possibly Brittain will all be here next season.
There will no doubt be a number of sales. But I think we might find ourselves surprised by one or two that stay, and one or two that we manage to offload during the window. A lot will depend on what impression Duff makes on some of the players I guess.
