He's 29 next month.. a lower/non league journeyman. The biggest club he every played for was Donny So my question would be why him?
seen this mentioned a few times now, but nothing on the usual media channels. why do people think he's gone, beyond him not being at training yesterday? have I missed summat?
Adeboyejo hasn't been officially announced yet, so until he is, I'd still list him. And as I mentioned previously, we'll still be paying a good chunk of Oulares so we have a decent wage cost without a player to select.
If we love him as a player and can see what he brings to a team and the variety of goals he scores... I somehow think we won't be alone in those views and other clubs will have taken heed.
I reckon he'd bring something like 2 million. Would we pay that for a player who averages half a season at best ?!?
I keep seeing people suggest Alfie May on twitter. He's 28 and only had one prolific season. I'm not sure he's the answer long term.
I opted for Hardie as last season he did well and has 1 year left. Think Jepcott had a mad purple patch a couple of seasons ago and loads of teams were looking at him but since then he's gone off boil a bit. Edit: Having double checked, looks like Jephcott has a better overall L1 record. Would be the better bet.
We can't play both sides though. We can't rave about him and say what a great forward he is, but then try and downplay it because we don't want anyone else to pinch him from us. Chris Wilder has been complimentary about him and I'm sure there are plenty of other coaches who have seen what he's done against them. We were only able to afford him because he'd had some bad injuries. I'd be very surprised if offers from Championship clubs weren't made for him.
What is long term Archey in BFC world. He's 28 not in a zimmer frame. If the price is right I'd give him a whirl.
Kabongo Tshimanga. Whilst admittedly I've only seen his YouTube highlights, he looks big, strong, quick, good in the air, good with the ball at his feet, and knows where the net is. Been injured since February which is a worry, but I think he's capable of making the jump from the National League to league 1 at least. Scored 19, 19 and 24 in his last 3 seasons. He got 24 in 27 games for Chesterfield last term. Might be a gamble, but one worth taking in my opinion. Might be the right foil for a fox in the box type like Marsh.
Seen so many on twitter demanding him. Like you I do not understand it at all. The only plus is that his two best seasons in his EFL career came under Duff but even still, I think we could find better for the money it would cost to bring him in.
I said during the season to my wife, that he fits in with Chris Wilder's philosophy, also Middlesbrough are short on good strikers. Also I think he would be excellent back at Norwich, he's better than some of the rubbish they have bought recently and would dovetail nicely with Pukki.
We can though because he's ours and a potential asset. I'd be surprised in the current transfer climate if clubs would want to gamble on a striker (they command more than any other position) that they will potentially get half a season from. I do hope he's on fire for us for 40+ games next season and bags of goals and his stock rises. Then it's a win win.
Wilder might have been complimentary about him, but I don't see Middlesborough linked with him. Not sure who else in the Championship is likely to be spending 7 figure fees, maybe Burnley? Not sure either of the other relegated from PL clubs will be making an offier. Said on another thread about Andersen, Wigan and Sunderland are probably the most likely, but Wigan in particular are probably already happy with their strikers from their promotion season. A lot of other clubs will be under ffp pressures this season. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he left, but it also wouldn't surprise me if he moved to a League 1 club, or stayed.
On the flip side, you've also the risk of not cashing in. He's currently got 12 months left on his contract plus an option of another 12. He's currently had 2 good seasons at Championship level. A poor season in L1 or injury plagued and we have a forward with a diminishing value and a shortened contract (if we chose to extend). We've got to get this huge deficit down somehow.
I can't see why he'd move to L1. He's way better than that. I'd love him to stay. He's a quality player. Too good for us. But you're right, it's going to be a case of who might come in for him. And what we deem as acceptable to contribute to offsetting our excessive wage bill.
