Word going around Twitter that he is off to Carlisle. Apparently there are photos of him moving stuff into a house near the ground too?

Not sure how legit it all is but would be good if it is true. I still have no idea where his best position is so would not be upset to see us get rid. If we can even manage to grab a small fee for him too it would be great.

This is the sort of player we need to be offloading. Frustrating as multiple coaches and players have said how talented he is, but he hasn't really been able to translate that into meaningful football.

He's out of contract in 12 months time so if this transpires, I suspect we're in the same situation as with Schmidt. The club he goes to pay lower wages, and we likely pay off part of his wages so he's no worse off this season but we're not having to pay a full annual salary.

Edit: Though unpalatable, getting relegated and having clauses in contracts probably makes it easier to get rid of the deadwood given their drop in earnings.

We really need him gone. So many managers have been and gone during his time and most didn't play him at all. I honestly have no idea what position he is supposed to play. He is too lightweight and cant shoot so you can't have him in the forward line. He can't defend so using him LB/LWB is a no go.

Yes he is good on the ball and can dribble but aside from that he is crap.

Another Conway class of 2019 success story.

If he'd made the mark their was a great song in there.

    I want to be Oduor.

    As it is... no.

Going to Carlisle is the Engish equivalent of Siberia.

Still, good luck lad. You showed some promise when you signed and started as a left wing back. Some great corners at the time too. That fizzled out sadly.

A bit of a tangent, but just had a look at our "most successful transfer window ever" signings that cost us about £6.4m of which Oduor was one.

If Oduor goes, we have 3 players left. 9 players gone, zero of which we've made a profit on. Of the 3 left, one is Thomas who will be entering his final year and as things stand is unlikely to generate any significant fee.

That just leaves us with Mads and Collins to claw back some of our losses. And Collins came on a free.

I'd say league 2 is about his level. Sad really because he showed so much promise when he broke into the team under Struber. Several managers have played him everywhere from full back to striker since, and I don't think there's a single position he excels in. I'd be interested to see where Carlisle play him, goalkeeper most probably.

That said, I will always be grateful for that goal at Brentford which kept us in the Championship. I went into work (well, I was working from home at the time, but still) very rough the morning after.

Substitute may be a likely regular position after the first few weeks and months.

Didn't Conway label it the best transfer window ever due to outgoings? Not incomings. Or have I made that up?

Maybe so. He might find the right club, at the right level. I've no confidence of him doing anything for us in league 1 though.

Going by this thread on Twitter:

A Carlisle fan has mistaken Daniel Jinadu (our third choice keeper from last season) for Odour, so it’s apparently him going to Carlisle and not Odour.

Co-Chairman Paul Conway has spoken to barnsleyfc.co.uk about the summer transfer window.

He said: "The club considers the summer 2019 transfer incoming signings the most successful in the club's history. Twelve permanent signings were completed, Mike Bähre, Luke Thomas, Mads Andersen, Brad Collins, Samuel Radlinger, Conor Chaplin, Toby Sibbick, Mallik Wilks, Bambo Diaby, Aapo Halme, Clarke Oduor and Patrick Schmidt. We strongly believe we have significantly upgraded the squad compared to our departing players. Most signings were completed on at least four-year deals. The club and supporters also are extremely proud that all new squad members are committed to the long term future and vision of the club and we are proud to be a club in the Sky Bet Championship with no loan players. Our strategy is very clear with a strong focus on young exciting players and further developing players from the Barnsley Academy. We will not be developing other club's players in the pursuit of short term gain. We once again want to thank our tremendous supporters and we look forward to seeing many of you at Hillsborough on Saturday. Come on you Reds!"

It was the most ridiculous transfer window ever. Sell the two established centre backs, with their back up leaving on a free, and replace with three complete novices. It was the sort of window you expect to have after relegation, not promotion.

I just don't think he's suited to proper men's football. He needs time on the ball to dribble etc. U23s is probably where he is best suited. Doesn't have to physical abilities. He's too lightweight

If I recall rightly, there was quite a strong sentiment that it had been a good window from a good portion of the fan base. I was far from impressed given the youth and inexperience brought in, let alone the sheer volume of signings.

His soundbite certainly hasn't aged well.

Can you imagine his YouTube best bits him sticking his goal in at Brentford from 3yrds over and over again
